Beach very handy beautiful views across water. Had lovely time in omeath people very nice and friendly . lots of walks with dog .house and grounds could be updatedMore

Thanks Alyson. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, it is an old house; much of the furniture and kitchen are rustic and in keeping with that; Aga range, wooden floorboards, etc. We’re working on the garden as we speak. Hope your travels back went smoothly....More

This was a real home from home. Had the charm of a place which has so much history but also had the spaciousness and all the modern conveniences so it was a great place to entertain visitors or just relax and take in the ever-changing...More

I have visited Omeath a number of times. It never fails to give a sight to behold. I would dearly recommend it to all those that love sightseeing.

About the neighbourhood
An EU Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the place is breath-taking. But there are virtually no tourists as it's an unknown, local idyll. An ideal spot for walkers/cyclists (greenway walk at the front door is 7 miles to the medieval village of Carlingford along the water's edge and stunning views) and hikers (the mountain park 1 mile from the house up gorgeous terrain to Slieve Foy mountain park -- from the top of the mountain down into Carlingford is 45 mins, all down hill). Get a taxi to the look out post at the top, if you're not into hiking per se. Or walk 20 mins from the house to the park and up the hill, another 30 mins, and then downhill, 45 mins. Or simply stroll on the beach at the front door. It's gorgeous.
Getting around
Cafe, pubs, hotel restaurant, pharmacy, post office, coal distributor (petrol station), liquor store (beside the pub) and convenience store (inside petrol Mace station), all 2 mins walk in the village. For a bigger grocery shop or high end shopping, it's 6 miles to Newry to a shopping hub, two large shopping centres and all transport links.
