Monte San Savino, Province of Arezzo, Tuscany

Sleeping up to twenty two, this large castle near Arezzo is great for family reunions and celebrations. The large estate produces Chianti wine and olive oil. The location is well suited for exploring Eastern and Southern Tuscany, including Arezzo, Cortona, Siena and Montepulciano.

About the neighbourhood
The ancient Castello lies in a panoramic position and is shown on the map of Valdichiana drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503. The Castello is 5 kilometers from the Etruscan town of Monte San Savino where there are excellent restaurants. Arezzo, the setting for Roberto Benigni's Life is Beautiful, is located just twenty kilometers away. It is a city characterized by an array of architectural styles, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month features a popular antique fair, while annually the town hosts a festival called Joust of the Saracens, where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire to watch knights charge at a target (representing the Saracen king). Arezzo also has a train station, convenient for accessing other cit... more
