The property sits right on the shore of Loch Kilerivagh, the tide comes right up to the garden fence
Guests are invited to pick their own fresh herbs from our herb boat.
Our palm trees give the garden a Mediterranean feel.
A short private drive leads to the cottage with ample parking and turning space.
Spectacular Hebridean weather sometimes makes a good photo!
The hall leads to the main living area, with bathroom and a large cupboard off too.
The living room is comfortably furnished with a sofa bed.
You can purchase postcards or tote bags with an image of the cottage printed on.
The kitchen area.
The logburner makes a cosy homecoming after a day out.
The bathroom has a heated towel rail, shower, sink and wc and electric fan heater.
South to the mountains of South Uist

This cosy cottage sits right on the waters edge and is both remote and isolated. Your only neighbours being the sea birds, seals and the occasional otter! It really is an ideal retreat, where you can escape the bustle of daily life and relax.
It is ideally placed right at the centre of the Outer Hebrides, so you can explore from Eriskay (with regular connections to Barra) to the south, to Berneray (with regular connections to Harris) to the North.
It was originally built as a shieling to house land workers, and is now a comfortable holiday retreat, with the added advantage of a log burning stove to snuggle up to after a long day out.

NB During the autumn of 2018 there will be major refurbishment in the cottage with new windows, new kitchen and new oak flooring in the living area.

A comfortable cottage in a fantastic location. The views are fantastic and the place very quiet. There are no neighbours but it's close enough to shops not to feel isolated. It's perfectly situated in the centre of the Uists. The owner has done a great job improving the cottage. The garden is already very pleasant, with a lot of flowers...

The cottage is a very nice original old crofters house, converted into a nicely equipped holiday cottage. The location is fantastic, basically in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of nature. About the neighbourhood
The wild beauty of the Hebrides is hard to comprehend unless you have experienced it. It is a haven for bird watchers with many rare birds to be seen regularly. There is a white tailed eagle and golden eagle which regularly fly up the loch past the cottage, their approach heralded by warning cries from other birds. The Uists have some of the finest sandy beaches anywhere with beautiful turquise sea beyond.
Getting around
Although there are a few buses which run between Berneray and Eriskay, realistically a car is pretty essential to get around. The cottage is about 2 miles from the shops and nearest bus stop. Much of the main road from the north to south of the Hebrides is double track, but most of the roads on the islands are single track with passing places.

Airport: Benbecula: 9.0 km
Ferry: Lochboisdale (to south) or Lochmaddy (to north): 28.0 km
The cottage sits midway between the ferry ports of Lochboisdale and Lochmaddy and just 6 miles from Benbecula airport. It is about 3 miles along the remote road to Peters Port. It is worth noting that the Grimsay Island where the cottage lies, is a very small island at the southern side of Benbecula, not the somewhat larger and better known Isle of Grimsay to the south of Nort Uist.
Please note: the Saturday ferries get booked very early during the season, guests are strongly advised to book the ferry when they book the accomodation.
