There is also an automatic washing machine in the bathroom. The first floor has two double bedrooms, a mezzanine with a sofa bed and a family bathroom. Well placed for beaches, watersports, golf, visiting the many historic towns in this beautiful Morbihan region of South Brittany or simply for country walks and generally enjoying the spectacular Atlantic coastline. The cottage has private parking and a secluded and sheltered south-facing terrace and private garden, perfect for relaxing in sun or shade during the day and, complete with a dining table that sits four, ideal for enjoying alfresco dining and barbecues. The Morbihan region of southern Brittany is a quiet fishing and farming region of France and is blessed with a beautiful and varied coastline and an interior of lush farmland, woods and moors to delight the country lovers. Brittany’s rolling hills, dense forests and lazy rivers, offer a variety of activities; from walking, riding, sailing and cycling to fishing, golf and canoeing. The Grande Brière National Park, the second largest wetland in France (after The Camargue), and the salt marshes around Batz sur Mer are both amazing places for wildlife. There are Interesting towns such as La Baule, with its chic boutiques, health and beauty spas, fabulous beaches and promenade, the medieval walled city of Guerande and picturesque Vannes are a short drive away. A little further afield you can find the attractive cities of Nantes and Rennes and the artistic towns of Rochfort-en-Terre and La Gacilly. You can catch pleasure boats from Vannes for trips around the Gulf of Morbihan or even to Belle Île and other islands. Overall, the weather in the region is, typically, a few degrees higher than in the UK during the equivalent period, making it very pleasant and not uncomfortable, particularly during the summer. July and August are very popular when there are numerous village fêtes, open air concerts and other events going on. The spring weather in May and June, coupled with the long evenings (there is an extra hour in France) make it an absolute delight chilling out on the terrace and enjoying a glass and a plate of the local produce. September and October are also really good times, since the seasons in Brittany tend to be 2-3 weeks behind us in the UK, so the weather is still pretty good, but it is not too busy and the ferries are an awful lot cheaper! October is an excellent month for foraging for chestnuts and mushrooms (of which there are an abundance in the area!). There is no internet access from Mure Cottage, but there is a fairly good 3G/4G signal if you want to connect to the internet using a mobile device and most bars, restaurants and supermarkets also provide free Wi-Fi for customers.More

Comfortable and well-equipped cottage in a quiet location but not too far out of the way. We enjoyed local walks and it is easy to get (by car) to local towns and around the area in Brittany. The owner's representative (Andrew) was there to meet...More

About the neighbourhood
There is a small bar and brasserie in Nivillac itself, but there is a far greater choice in La Roche Bernard, where there are a number of good restaurants, crêperies and bars in the town and around the port. There are pleasant country walks or cycle rides along quiet roads and easy footpaths directly from the house and it is about a 15 minute walk to the river at Port Folleux.
Getting around
A car is recommended and the house is about 10 minutes from Exit 16 of the N165 Brest - Nantes motorway. If travelling by ferry from the UK the closest port is St. Malo, which is about a 2 hour drive. Alternatively, Roscoff and Cherbourg are about 3 and 3.5 hours respectively along excellent roads and toll-free motorways. The nearest airport is Nantes which is about 1 hour away and French TGVs stop at Redon which is about 25 minutes by car or taxi.
