Holiday Rental House
Classic Tuscan villa in the gracious hill town of Barga, a lively center of the arts with celebrated jazz and opera festivals, extraordinary restaurants, cafes and shops. The villa is set in a private compound, surrounded by an enormous terrace and walled garden planted in grapes, herbs, olives and fruit trees, with stunning views over the Lucca countryside and the marble Apuan Alps. Old Barga is largely a pedestrian town with steep narrow streets little changed since medievil days. All roads seem to lead to the impressive cathedral at the top of the hill. Vicolo Del Duomo is located very close to the cathedral with which it shars fantastic views. We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! It was the perfect holiday for kids, too (ages 2 and 4). The apartment was spacious and comfortable, the views were stunning, and Frank's knowledge and advice were invaluable. The town of Barga...More

First, why Barga? Barga is a charming and wonderful city tucked away in the mountains of northwestern Tuscany. It is a place to get away, relax, sightsee, soak in beautiful vistas, dine, enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the locals, and take in the rich...More

Interaction with guests
There is a one bedroom owner's apartment which I will be in sometimes. When I'm not around the local Italian housekeeper who lives nearby will take very good care of guests.

About the neighbourhood
You won't find a friendlier town, better food or a more spectacular landscape, anywhere in Mediterranean Europe.
How to get there
Nearly equidistant from the airports of both Pisa and Florence. A car is great for exploring the area but public transport is also fine. The bus service operates in Barga and the train station is a short bus or taxi ride away. The drive from Pisa is not difficult. It takes just over an hour using the autostrada to Lucca and then the normal road along the Serchio valley. If you plan to explore the back roads an automatic car makes it easier.
