A lovely cottage in a stunning location secluded with terrific views couldn't have asked for more. The cottage was well equipped with a good size fridge/freezer, very comfortable king size bed and a great shower. Plenty of lovely walks and places of interest but not enough time to see it all. Helmsley is a great place to visit as was...

We stayed in Low Crossett Cottage in December 2014. This is a delightful cottage set in a wonderful valley about 15 minutes north of Helmsley. It has everything you would need for a few days or a couple of weeks. Great access to walks and nearby towns and York about an hour away. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautifully situated, secluded with great views, well equipped, warm and very welcoming. Hans and Sandra were perfect hosts in that they left...

About the neighbourhood
Bilsdale is a special place in the North York Moors National Park. The dale lies beside the Coast to Coast Walk and the Cleveland Way, between the viewpoints at the tops of Clay Bank to the North and Newgate Bank to the South. Bilsdale is one of the greenest and most picturesque of the dales, renowned for the number of public footpaths and bridle ways.

The scenery along the dale is outstanding, framed by the moors with a traditional farming landscape - fields with boundaries marked by dry stone walls, farm houses and agricultural buildings constructed in local sandstone with clay pantile roofs. The River Seph collects water from the surrounding moors and flows southwards through the dale to join the River Rye. From Low Crossett Cottage the River Seph is just a short walk to Fangdale Be...
