Cottage -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 5
Crediton, Devon, England
The Roundhouse is an attached cottage dating back to the 15th century. Part of a set of converted farm buildings set in peaceful and tranquil mid Devon.

Children big and small will love playing in the garden and around our smallholding with sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs and other animals.

The Roundhouse has far reaching views to Dartmoor and across the beautiful rolling Devon countryside.

The Roundhouse is open plan downstairs with a fitted kitchen and cosy woodburner as well as underfloor heating. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, a large family room with king size and single beds and a smaller twin room. The bathroom, also upstairs, has a bath with electric shower over it. There is a large TV and DVD player in the sitting room and a second TV in the master bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped and we live next door so can lend anythi...

Interaction with guests
We are next door, and are usually around to meet our guests when they arrive. We keep ourselves private and we have our own separate garden, but are happy to offer advice or help if you need, you only have to ask! We have lived here for a long time so can recommend local pubs and restaurants, beaches, kids and other activities as well as having lots of maps and 'tea shop' walk books.

This was our 12th visit as we really enjoy our stay in this cottage every year. As it is fairly central in Devon it is easy to travel anywhere within the county. We had our usual Sunday dinner at the London Inn in Morchard Bishop....More

About the neighbourhood
Mid Devon is really quite and peaceful, there is little traffic, even in the peak of Summer. You might encounter a tractor or cows on the lanes around us but not much more!
We have far reaching views from the cottages to Dartmoor, about half an hour's drive away, and we are less than an hour's drive from the beautiful North Devon beaches. Our village has a great and highly recommended pub, the London Inn, and a lovely award winning shop. You can walk from here to either of them in about 30-40 minutes.
There are 45 miles of footpaths in the village area, we can advise or provide maps if you need.
Getting around
A car is essential, although the tarka train line from Exeter to Barnstaple is around 3 miles away and a bus to Exeter passes about 10 minutes walk from here.
The roads are not busy, but are mostly single track with passing places.

How to get there
Airport: Exeter: 25.0 km
Railway: Morchard Road: 4.0 km
Ferry: Plymouth: 70.0 km
It is advisable to avoid Exeter, so if you are traveling via the A303 we would suggest that you take the A358 at Ilminster which will take you onto the M5, near Taunton.

At junction 27 of the M5 motorway pick up the A361 towards TIVERTON.

At the FIRST ROUNDABOUT turn left, over the mini-roundabout and pass the Petroc college on your right.

At the next roundabout turn right, pass straight over the roundabout past Morrisons and the river Exe and then turn right at the mini-roundabout towards Witheridge. Almost immediately turn left onto the B3137 (signposted for WITHERIDGE)

Travel for almost 6 miles; pass through a wood and soon after the brow of the hill fork left (signpost says “PEAK”) into a lane marked PUDDINGTON and BLACK DOG.

Through the small villages of PUDDINGTON and BLACK DO...
