You are also only a stones throw from Stourhead Gardens. There are a couple of great food pubs in Mere so you won't have to go far to eat out. The walking around Mere is excellent from a quick stroll across the Medes, a walk to the top of Castle hill or walking around the Horseshoe where the views are fantastic. All these walks don't require you to drive to get there first. There are regular buses from Mere to other local towns and the nearest train station is at Gillingham, only 4 miles away.More
