The Kailua Bay pier is a short 10-minute walk from which many of the boat excursions (snorkel, whale watch, dinner cruise) depart and where you may often find the 'locals' inviting you to paddle or 'bob' in the bay. You will also find some very important historical spots such as Hulihee Palace, the Ahuena Heiau, and Hawaii’s first Christian Church. All of these places have tour guides reciting history. You won’t get through Kona without hearing about the events of Ironman Triathlon where over 5000 volunteers jubilantly dedicate their time to the athletes. We had the best condo in Kona!! It had everything was so clean. Had a wonderful welcome basket with snacks, granola bars and candy. We had a sweet pineapple and bananas. Frig had eggs, butter, bread, gatoraide kona brewing co beer and bottles of water....More

About the neighbourhood
There are a lot of events that happen regularly in Kona that you can take part in. Street fairs, festivals, sports competitions and social events. Check local flyers for calendar events to find out dates and times.
Getting around
Taxi or shuttle fare to and from the Kona airport is approximately $40. U The Island bus system (Hele On) is great transportation and is very inexpensive ($2 one way). You can catch it almost anywhere by flagging it down or waiting at a bus stop. You can even transport a bicycle on the bus. However, it is a slow way to get around the Island as it stops often and runs on 'Island Time' (that means slow and untimely). There are electric bike rentals 'Lock and Dock' throughout the downtown areas. The location of this condo is within walking distance of beaches, restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, gift shops, clothing stores, and activity kiosks.
