Having been to NYC before we wanted to stay in Brooklyn for this visit. This house in the diverse Bed-Sty district was warm, spacious and very comfortable; well-appointed and close to public transport. Only 5 minutes walk to the local C line and 10 minutes...More

Stayed in this for one night having booked 4 nights. Couldn’t lock the internal doors and felt very uncomfortable about leaving our stuff knowing someone was living on the top floor. We left after one night to realise we could have spent the same money...More

We're truly sorry that you left before we had a chance to talk or to show you that all the locks work. Our house is 100% safe and the person on the top floor has no access to any of the guests' rooms

About the neighbourhood
Located in the historic district of Bedford-Stuyvesant; today a vibrant urban Caribbean/African American community (sandwiched in between the fascinating Hasidic areas of Crown Heights and Williamsburg), only 15 minutes from the Barclay Center, Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens/Zoo & Museum of Art.

New local restaurants and coffee shops are cropping up everyday and lines wrap around the block for famous new establishments, Peaches and (vegetarian) Saraghina. Fashionable Fort Greene and Williamsburg are only minutes away on foot, by bus or subway and home to some of today's best bars and restaurants in Brooklyn
Getting around
Excellent Subway and Bus services within a 5-7 minute walk.
Subway ride to downtown Manhattan only 15 minutes
Parking free, on the block
Car not needed
How to get there
Airport: JFK: 9.0 km
Railway: Kingston-Throop subway: 0.2 km
The ride from JFK to our house is approximately 40 minutes.
The city charge a flat rate from the airport to Brooklyn, which I believe is now $52
This would certainly be the easiest and most convenient way.

Your best value would probably be the airtrain (free) to the subway (2.75 each) . but it would take over an hour and then another 5-7 minute walk from the subway to the house. Our closest subway is Kingston-Throop on the C line.

You also have the option of supershuttle ($15 each) - but that would stop off at several destinations before you got to the house.
