New York City, New York
We love families! Bring the kids. This is a big, bright, quiet, one bedroom apartment located in a 1920s era building on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The building is 20 stories tall, has 24 hour security, two elevators, and a basement laundry room. This 850 square foot apartment offers expansive views in two directions, including a view of The American Museum of Natural History. And best of all is the neighborhood which is full of shops, restaurants, bars, delis, and all the other services you would expect to find in any nice, residential neighborhood such as supermarkets, cleaners, playgrounds, etc. And two blocks away is Central Park. This really is the best neighborhood in NYC!

Would highly recommend this apartment for rent. We took our 3 teenage sons for Christmas & had a blast. The apartment was clean, spacious & easy to get around manhatten from. Bruce was amazing. Very helpful, kind & certainly made us feel very welcome on our first visit to New York. Can't thank him enough. Will definitely be back 😀

Both the neighbourhood and apartment added greatly to our New York experience. The neighbourhood had everything we needed, from public transport, large supermarkets, local shops and restaurants, to wonderful Central Park. Two nearby delis sold, amongst other things, lovely pizza, spinach and feta cheese pies, beer, salads, veg lasagne -all to eat in or take away, as well as bread...

About the neighbourhood
New York City needs little introduction to most people. It is most famous as the cultural and business capital of the United States, or some would say of the world. It's main attractions are its many museums, restaurants, stores, concert halls and theaters. Central Park, Times Square, the Empire State Building, Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island draw visitors all year long. The Upper West Side of Manhattan has its own share of attractions, all located within walking distance of this apartment. Such attractions include The American Museum of Natural History & Hayden Planetarium, The Children's Museum of Manhattan, The New York Historical Society Museum, The American Craft Museum, The Dakota Apartment Building and adjoining Strawberry F... more
Getting around
New Yorkers travel by cab or by subway and bus. Cabs are cheap compared to other world capitals such as Paris or Amsterdam, and a ride on the subway or bus is only about $2.50. The MTA (the subway/bus system) is easy to use, and unless you use it you have not really experienced the real New York. There is an MTA map in the apartment as well as on line (web.mta.info) to help you figure out how to get where you're going.
Car not needed
How to get there
Airport: JFK and Newark: 15.0 km
Railway: Penn Station, NYC: 3.0 km
Ferry: Staten Island Ferry: 8.0 km
Fly to any of three major airports serving the New York City area: John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia, or Newark (New Jersey), and then take a taxi from the airport to the apartment. Taxis fares range from approximately $40 to $70 each way, depending on which airport you're coming from. People familiar with New York can get to the apartment using various forms of public transportation, but we do not recommend that for first-time visitors or larger groups with baggage. A rental car is not desirable in New York, nor necessary. New Yorkers typically travel by subway or bus, and the apartment is located only 1/2 block from a bus stop and only 1 block from the #1 subway line.
