Interaction with guests
We live near the guesthouse but you have complete privacy. We both work full time and the kids go to school, but will be in and out as we manage the working farm. The keyless-entry system allows you to check in easily without us. If we are not at home to welcome you personally when you arrive, we will stop by at some point at the beginning of your stay to orient you and answer any questions you may have. We have lots of recommendations for dining and activities, and we are just a call, text or holler away if you need anything. We speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

About the neighbourhood
We live in the Kona coffee belt and all of our neighbors run working coffee farms. This is a unique little pocket of 'old Hawaii' acreages nestled in between newer developments, Kealakekua township and one of the largest coffee farms on the island, Greenwell Farms. Our neighbors are all very friendly and you will find that if you come 'with Aloha,' then you will receive lots of Aloha in return. We are a multi-cultural family and are happy to 'talk story' with you about the Hawaiian islands, culture and modern-day society that make this place special.
Getting around
Having your own car is definitely a must for unlocking the treasures of the big island and getting to and from our property. Our property is just 1/4 mi (0.4km) downhill from the Mamalahoa Hwy. and close to the shops, cafes, banks and post office of Kealakekua. Our road is very bumpy and a little steep, but any rental car can make it without problems (although we don't recommend a low-riding convertible). The Big Island has a variety of activities including beaches, snorkeling, diving, surfing, volcano and lava (both old and new!), waterfalls and rainforest. We are a 10-15 min drive to the beaches and snorkeling of Kealakekua Bay and 15+ min from Kailua Kona depending on traffic; a central location to explore both North and South Kona.

How to get there
Airport: Kona International Airport: 29.0 km
We are a 30-40 min drive south from the Kona airport, a 15-30 min drive south from Kailua Kona town and a 10-15 min drive to Kealakekua bay beaches. We will send detailed directions as you get close to your booking, as google maps is not very reliable on Hawaii island!
