Hale Nai`a unveils breathtaking views and allows you the opportunity to be outside from morning to night.

If you plan to prepare your meals at home, this is the place for you! You can do so while soaking in the magnificent ocean view in the fully furnished outdoor kitchen with full size fridge, stove, sink, dishwasher, BBQ, coffee pot, microwave and a screened in gazebo for your dining pleasure. In addition, there is also an interior, fully equipped kitchen with ocean views, a full size fridge and stove with oven.

Let the sound of the ocean waves lull you to sleep in your beautiful one bedroom o'hana with unobstructed ocean views that can accommodate up to 4 guests. There are ceiling fans in every room – even the bathroom. A comfy Cal King bed with memory foam topper awaits you as well as a pillow topper queen size sofa sleeper to accommodate extra guests or family members. Have an afternoon siesta in your hammock.

There is a full 4 piece bath indoors and an added bonus and to truly experience Hawaii there is an additional custom-built outdoor bamboo shower with hot water for your enjoyment.

Listen to the singing of the many songbirds as you leisurely sip your morning coffee/tea. Watch the dolphins as they swim by. Relax and unwind after a day of rejuvenating solitaire getaway adventure or nuzzle with a loved one watching a breathtaking Hawaiian sunset from your lanai with swaying palm and coconut trees framing your picturesque view. Star-gazing can be spectacular on the clear warm Hawaiian nights or a trip to Mauna Kea's observatory to marvel at the clear star swept sky is well worth the trip.

We also have available beach necessities including beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, sun-shade umbrella, and cooler – so no need to pack these items.

Hale Nai`a (Dolphin House) is located:

- 45 minutes south of Keahole, Kona International Airport
- 15 minutes to grocery stores, restaurants, markets
- Three miles to Pu`uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park
- Thirty minutes to Kailua-Kona
- 1.5 – 2 hour drive to Volcano National Park

Kealakekua Bay (Pathway to the Gods) is located on the Kona Coast, 12 miles South of Kailua-Kona and is only a short walk from your cottage. Manini Beach is truly a hidden gem of a beach a short 250 steps away with picnic tables, a small sand beach with shaded grassy areas. A perfect spot to unwind basking in the sun. If your are fortunate enough, you may have the opportunity to swim with turtles, mantas, spotted eagle rays and enjoy world class snorkeling with beautiful coral reef and an array of colorful tropical fish in an awesome under water protected marine sanctuary. Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook monument are seen across the bay from Manini Beach where spinner dolphins frequent. This is also the historic bay where Captain Cook first landed in Hawaii in 1778 and the famous site of his Monument.

Historic Napoopoo Beach Park and Ke'ei Beach (good for surfing) are only minutes away.

The federal park Pu'uhonua O Honaunau, The City of Refuge, is a short drive to the south. There you will find a popular snorkeling spot named “Two Step” which is an easy access area for snorkeling or scuba diving.
This area also has a public boat launch and a sand beach for the small children to swim in shallow waters. Another 10-minute drive will take you to Ho'okena Beach which is a black sand beach with great views, public facilities, camping, rental equipment and perfect for a picnic.

The sound of the ocean waves will enchant you. Visiting during the months of November through March is an excellent time for watching humpback whales breech from your lanai. On occasion, you can hear their singing and tail slapping. The Hawaiian spinner dolphins frequent the bay all year and can be seen jumping and “spinning” in the pristine blue waters.

Paradise awaits you! Please note: This is a non-smoking property indoor and outdoor. Smoking can be enjoyed steps away at the entrance to the property or the nearby beach park. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: TA-113-063-5264-01

Unforgettable!
Absolutely 5 stars for Janice and Rusty's hospitality, attention, and most importantly, for letting us have real Hawaiian life experience in their Hale Nai'a. The neighborhood is very residential, far from large hotels, but there lots to do within 25 min driving distance: Hookena Beach is gorgeous, Two Step beach is great for snorkeling, kayak rentals and launch is close by, lovely Manini park with good snorkeling is 4 min walk, then Paleaku Sanctuary, Painted Church, Pu'uhonua park, etc. The house is very simple, if not minimal, inside, but the outdoor kitchen and other spots (I could call them outdoor rooms) with ocean views are what makes it all so different, so Hawaiian, so authentic, and so special. Thank you!

Oasis at Kealakekua Bay
The Hale Nai' home was perfect for my family. Firstly, it's situated near all the places we want to be; Captain Cook Memorial, Two Step Beach, and many other snorkeling friendly sites. The outdoor living space here is where my family was most comfortable. My sons even slept outside most nights just couch crashing. We would definitely book our next trip to the Big Island with Rusty and hopefully it would be a longer stay.

Wonderful place to stay!
We stayed at HALE NAI`A Kealakekua Bay while in Hawaii. We loved it! Rusty and Janice are like the best neighbors you ever had and the house is great. Loved the outdoor kitchen, we only slept indoors, everything else, including showers were outside. Actually, my husband even took a couple of naps outside. Highly recommend it!

Love Kealakekua Bay
☆☆☆☆☆ Location, managers, bedroom, outside shower, ☆☆☆☆☆ Outside kitchen ☆☆☆ Back patio, livingroom We absolutely love this place and the Aloha spirit of the neighborhood. The location is perfect... short walk to the park and kayak launch. Short drive to shops and town. Downside... the patio and living room furniture are old and uncomfortable to sit in. Inside the house a dinette set for an eating area would be nice. And tall barstool chairs and cocktail table to stare at the ocean view in the patio would be perfect.

This is the real deal
This cottage is in many ways the "real deal" of a Hawaiian vacation. My wife and I have visited Hawaii many times and usually stay in ultra-clean manicured high-end hotels and condos, where you walk right out onto a golf course or beach. There's nothing bad about that--but this cottage features a totally equipped outdoor kitchen (we never used the indoor one), and it was like summer camp. The resident cat kept us company from one of the futons--there were 4 outdoor dining areas in the large backyard--and we watched the geckos and mongooses scamper around as we ate. We'd buy fresh ahi or mahi-mahi at the Choice Mart in Captain Cook every night and sear it on the patio's Weber for some of the best fish ever, but we needed to learn to keep the lights off when not in use so as not to attract the thousands of bugs that could detect food or light. The Manini Beach kayak launching ramp is 100' away, and 2-step, the best snorkeling on the island, is a short 4-mile drive. Our stay got off to a bad start because the owners were out of town when we arrived and the replacement hostess was extremely rude, which surprised us, but luckily we didn't need to interact with her after we had moved in.

Lovely outdoor living!
Great location close to lots of good snorkeling. The outdoor living room and kitchen were fantastic. Communication was great, and amenities were exactly as described. The bed was very comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Wow! Expectations exceeded. Absolutely wonderful.
Wow! Expectations definitely exceeded! My wife picked the place, and I looked briefly and thought it looked great, but I didn't know too much about it, and was a little worried about reviews mentioning barking dogs (I'm more of a cat person, and was hoping for a relaxing vacation). But I couldn't have imagined a better place for us to stay. Almost never heard any dogs (probably got lucky with regards to other nearby vacationers while we were there), and everything about the house and location was just amazing. Waking up in the morning and opening my eyes to see the gorgeous view of the ocean right from the bed was amazing. The bed is very comfortable! And my bad back was grateful for the step stool we found in the closet which made the height not a problem. The indoors of the place is nothing special but that simply is irrelevant (aside from the comfy bed with a view!). We spent all our non sleeping time outside, and showered outside as well. Why go in?? The outdoor kitchen is large and well appointed with everything you need. You'd have to be just as careful due to ants if you were inside so the small extra work of keeping tidy in the kitchen was hardly anything and totally worth it. We used the indoor fridge (turned off) for dry food storage, and the outside one for anything requiring refrigeration. There's multiple shaded living spaces, protected from rain as well, with spectacular scenery and views. The dining table was perfect with a fan above to help keep bugs away. (There's a fan over the kitchen, too). You are a *very* short walk from the beautiful Manini Beach spot, from which excellent snorkeling is easy, and there's a nice community garden and lawn and picnic tables and community. You're literally next door to the kayak rentals-we rented twice from Bay Side Adventures.. incredible to swim with the dolphins and snorkel at Captain Cook Monument! Less than 10 minutes to Two Step for more mind blowing snorkeling. And a perfectly reasonable location from which to go on adventures further afield such as volcanoes national park, Hilo, Waimea, etc. Would definitely stay here again. Rusty and Janice were away, but good communication and Shelley who was starting at their place was friendly and helpful. We appreciated the cooler in the carport (and ice blocks in the freezer) which made shopping at the Costco near the airport for perishables possible. (And we actually ended up getting the best piece of local fish we had the whole week at Costco! It was Opah, which we hadn't had before. Fantastic.) You won't be disappointed. This place has everything you need and more, and is a very wonderful place to relax and enjoy.

So relaxing
Absolutely amazing place with super hosts. Rusty and Janice are so nice people. The house is located in the middle of a residential area and its about 20 minutes away from any main city which is exactly what we wanted. Its an easy drive to Kona though. It is super clean and very well equipped. As other reviews say, we only slept indoors. We didnt do much cooking there though except for breakfast. You can see the bay from the bedroom. The bed is indeed very high but that means that you can watch the dolphins playing in the bay without getting up. The outdoor shower was a strange concept for me but it was fun. We had a tiny problem with the lights the first day but Rusty fixed it in five minutes. Everything else went smoothly. Ask them about the nearby two-step beach where you can swim with dolphins. if we ever go back to Hawaii, that's the place we will be staying at. Im not going anywhere else. It was relaxation to the max!

Perfect!!
The setting and location of the cottage was perfect...near the ocean and just far enough from the town. We had views of the ocean and sunset from our outdoor living room and kitchen. As other reviewers mentioned, we only slept indoors! Rusty & Janice have the cottage so well equipped that it was super easy to set up housekeeping. They thought of everything...spices and O&V for cooking, flashlights, lots of towels, laundry detergent, and much more! We snorkeled every morning at one of the nearby spots. Two Steps and the very peaceful Manini Beach were our favorites. Captain Cook is a lovely area, and Hale Nai’a is a wonderful place to stay. Thank you Rusty & Janice!
