The Chauffeur's Apartment, is a recently refurbished, 4 star (Visit Scotland), 3-bedroom self-catering apartment and is located in the picturesque, historic Victorian Stable Courtyard at Lochinch Castle, the private home of the Earl and Countess of Stair.

Located in the heart of Stair Estates, the Castle is situated at one end of Castle Kennedy Gardens (open to the public), between two large natural lochs which are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest for breeding wader and wintering wildfowl, and surrounded by 75 acres of beautiful sculptured terraces, avenues and historic gardens.

We stayed over for New Year. Had a great time. The place is amazing so comfortable A very good kitchen 3 large bedrooms and a fantastic log fire with loads of wood. The place and people are so welcoming. We are definitely booking again.

This apartment has everything you need and is very comfortable indeed. Located next to the castle itself it is clean, warm and we really enjoyed our stay. Already looking forward to next year.

Stunning location and great place to explore Galloway. All the facilities you could want and very comfortable beds! Nice touch where you are welcomed with cake and 'the essentials' of milk and eggs. Would be very happy to stay here again!

The surrounding area in Galloway is full of un-spoilt scenic treasures, including deserted sandy beaches, exotic gardens, rolling hillsides and open estuaries. The Southern Upland Way is located close by as is the River Luce which offers excellent fly fishing.
Local attractions include a whisky distillery, Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, Wigtown Book Town and the picturesque seaside village of Portpatrick where guests can enjoy excellent seafood restaurants, village stores and pubs.
Farther afield, there are numerous castles, historic and family attractions; book, music, food and art festivals; as well as museums, visitor centres, adventure playgrounds, cycling and walking trails.

The Chauffeur's Apartment at Lochinch Castle is situated approximately 3 miles east of Stranraer on the A75. The road takes you up a small hill and on the left hand side is the entrance where there are large iron gates. On the opposite side is a church in some trees. (If you reach Castle Kennedy Village you have gone too far). Turn into the gates and follow the road for 2 miles until you reach Lochinch Castle. To the side of Lochinch Castle you will see the Stable Courtyard and an archway. Drive through the archway and across the stable courtyard to the exit on the right hand side. Turn left and follow the building until you see a sign and entrance to the Chauffeur's Apartment.
