The cottage occupies a stunning hillside location above Staffin Bay with spectacular views across the sea to mainland Scotland. Situated in the crofting village of Staffin, Driftwood Cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the Trotternish Peninsula, located on the north-east coast of the Isle of Skye. Great location overlooking Staffin Island and bay. Really close to the Quiraing and Staffin Museum. Great sized Kitchen and comfortable beds. I would definitely stay there again.

About the neighbourhood
Staffin village has 2 well stocked shops, 2 cafe's, 2 restaurants, petrol station, post office but for anything extra Portree is just a 25 minute drive.We are ideally placed to visit Quirang (2 miles), Old man of storr (6 miles) Dinosaur footprints at staffin (less than 1 mile) Uig Ferry port for ferries to isle of lewis & harris 7 miles), Portree for all shops, many restaurants, cafes, 2 petrol stations, boat trips etc (18 miles), Dunvegan Castle (39 Miles).
The Quirang Mountain range is just behind the cottage and the main Quirang view point which is reached by road is approx 2 miles away
Getting around
You can walk to the beach (10 minutes walk) A car is really useful to get to shops and other attractions or the local bus service runs in both directions to Portree & Uig. The bus stop is just a short 5 minute walk from the cottage

Railway: Kyle of Lochalsh: 82.0 km
Ferry: Uig: 12.0 km
We are a 3 hour drive from Inverness and Fort William via the Skye road bridge (toll free open all year), 4.5 hours from Perth, 6 hours drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh and 9 hours drive from Manchester. We would recommend anyone driving from the London or the south of England do an overnight stop around Carlisle or Stirling.
