The Old Exchange

Cottage -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Wimborne, Dorset, England
Dorset country cottage with self catering for two in Witchampton.

Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque and historic village of Witchampton in the Vale of the River Allen. Much care was expended in converting this old telephone exchange into a relaxing holiday retreat for the discerning couple.

Its location gives the best of all worlds - equally close to the Isle of Purbeck or the New Forest, and adjacent to Cranborne Chase - yet only ten minutes from Wimborne itself with its historic Minster and charming shops.

The accommodation consists of one double en-suite bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, separate cloakroom, lounge with extensive views over the countryside. The property has a cosy oil fired central heating system and wifi. There is ample parking outside for at least two cars.

There is so much to do from here - walking, mou...

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is at the southern end of the historic Cranborne Chase in the Vale of the River Allen, which is in itself a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Witchampton itself nestles in the valley below The Old Exchange, and has a shop run by volunteers, a church and 'the club' which welcomes visitors for a pint in the evening. There are six country pubs within 3.5miles of Witchampton, all serving food

Wimborne with its famous Minster is only a short drive away. It has a Waitrose, a Coop and many great pubs and restaurants.

Getting around
We recommend use of a car as transport links to the property are infrequent. Wimborne and Poole have ample parking and excellent bus routes across Dorset. Train services from Poole to Wareham and Weymouth are also fun.

How to get there
Airport: London Airports / Southampton: 140.0 km
Railway: Southampton Airport/Poole: 50.0 km
Ferry: Poole: 20.0 km
The Old Exchange is about a 2.5hr drive from London Heathrow depending on traffic, although Southampton Airport is the nearest major regional airport being 45 mins away. Hire cars can be picked up at either airport.

If arriving by train Southampton Airport Parkway is only 1hr from London Waterloo station and is also the easiest location to pick up a hire car. The train does carry on to Bournemouth and Poole, but unless you have someone to meet you, transport to The Old Exchange would be only possible by taxi which could cost £30.

To explore the area a car is a necessity and there is ample parking in front of the property. Sat Nav is accurate for BH21 5AF and The Old Exchange can be found on WItchampton Lane next to the new telephone exchange on one side, and our property High Lea Cot...
