The South West Coast Path, the longest footpath in Britain, passes close to the village and provides superb walking through stunning and dramatic countryside.

We rented Island House for six weeks in September and October when our house purchase fell through at the last minute. We couldn't have chosen a better place as a temporary rental. The house was wonderfully situated for exploring quaint villages and beautiful coves. The house itself was well equipped in a small village with adequate space for all our family which was three generations. All the family enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Railway: Totnes: 22.0 km
If you are coming via Exeter on the A38, there is a scenic route off the Totnes to Kingsbridge road. Turn left at Halwell by the church. Go to the top of the hill and turn left again, towards Dartmouth. After Woodlands on the right and the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club on the left, take the turning on the right, signposted Blackawton and Strete. Follow this road for about 5 miles to Strete and turn right onto the main road. From this road you get stunning views over Slapton Sands and Start Point. Drive along Slapton Sands with the sea on one side and the Ley on the other. Drive through Torcross and up to Stokenham.
