It offers luxury reverse open plan living with the lounge & kitchen/diner on the first floor accessed from the rear at ground level. The two bedrooms with en-suite shower/bathrooms are located on the lower level with direct access onto the south facing, enclosed slate terrace overlooking a cobbled and grassed courtyard. The open plan lounge/kitchen/diner has large flat screen TV with Freesat and DVD player, information folder with favourite places to eat, favourite walks, beaches etc, oak furniture, Smeg fridge/freezer, ceramic hob and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and everything you need in the kitchen with comfortable seating for four people. The king size bedroom has a large oak wardrobe, with hairdryer, iron and ironing board and it's own en-suite full size bathroom with overhead shower. The single bedroom also has a wardrobe and luxury en-suite shower room with massage jet system. This room can also be set up as a small twin; ideal for children (see photos). On the lower level under the stairs there is a washer/dryer concealed in a cupboard. Water is supplied from our own spring through a rigorous filtration system that is regularly inspected by NDDC. We happily accept one small dog and provide throws for the furniture. We do however, prefer dogs to be kept off the furniture and kept upstairs in the living area and they cannot be left unattended in the cottage. A stair-gate is fixed at the top of the stairs to make this easier and to help keep children safe. We can also provide a full size wooden cot and highchair for our younger visitors. In addition to the small courtyard garden with outdoor dining furniture and BBQ available, visitors also have access to our dog garden and 3 acre field to exercise their dogs in or just to observe the abundance of wildlife including, rabbits, badgers, the occasional deer and plenty of birds and buzzards flying overhead. A truly magnificent setting! We are lucky to live on site, so always here to answer any questions or sort out any problems that may arise or offer advise. More

The best self catering place we have ever stayed at. The views were outstanding and it was so peaceful. Great location for north devon. Completely dog friendly. We did not want to leave and will certainly be going back again

We spent a lovely few days here with our 4 month old baby, the cottage was impeccably presented, the cream tea was a welcome touch on arrival. The views from Cider House are beautiful, and I look forward to visiting again in a different season.

About the neighbourhood
Nutcombe is set on the edge of Exmoor and the beautiful rugged coast of North Devon. Fantastic walks for miles along the South West Coast Path, long sandy beaches, great country and coastal pubs with moorland and wooded walks on Exmoor. We are in a quiet secluded valley with no car noise, just bird song and sheep baaing with fantastic dark skies as we are on the edge of Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve. Combe Martin village is just a mile away with a few convenience stores for stocking up on groceries with Ilfracombe just a 15 minute drive for a larger shop. Most supermarkets will deliver online shopping to us. This area of North Devon is simply a hidden gem!
Getting around
You can walk from the cottage, but it is very hilly which is why we have such lovely views. It is a mile walk down to the nearest shop and just over two miles to the sea. There is a bus stop at the bottom of Nutcombe Hill (about 1 mile) which has buses down to the sea front and into Ilfracombe and Barnstaple, but a car is needed to really appreciate the best of the area.
