Bernard's Acre Dartmoor Centre

1 of 31
Cabin -
5 Bedrooms , 6 Bathrooms , Sleeps 24
Belstone, Okehampton, Dartmoor National Park, Devon, England
Despite its secluded position, Bernard’s Acre is only about 2 miles from the A30 dual carriageway which in turn connects with the M5 just outside Exeter. The nearest village is Belstone, and the town of Okehampton is about 10 minutes drive away.

It is the ideal location for youth groups, family groups and fellowship groups to stay together. The property provides a setting for retreat and reflection, and also as a base for moorland hikes and activities.

The lodge has a well equipped kitchen, including a commercial dishwasher, and a communal area for eating and relaxing round the wood burner in the evening. There are six bedrooms with 2-5 beds in each - mainly bunks - but some rooms have single beds as well.

The grounds are spacious and run down to the river's edge with a natural amphitheatre and a fire pit area on the bank. I...

We enjoyed a full week-end of nature at Bernard's Acre. Fantastic situation, lost in Dartmoor National Park, with a small river and sheep around us (we saw the birth of a sheep from the kitchen!). The house is functional, clean, and friendly. We enjoyed also...More

A perfect location nestled on Dartmoor but still within walking distance of Belstone village and a great pub in the heart of the community. Bernard’s Acre has a well organised kitchen with all the facilities needed to keep a ravenous family fed. The bedrooms are...More

About the neighbourhood
Walking. Bernard’s Acre Dartmoor Retreat is situated amongst extensive moorland and is ideal for hiking. However apart from very local walks, due to the many hazards of open moorland walking, we would not recommend expeditions other than those led by an individual qualified in Mountain Leadership. This is an area where local experience is helpful and the ability to map read is essential. You cannot do this with a Smartphone as there is no signal once you get away from the roads. If in doubt stick to the valley and the many signposted footpaths.

Eating out
The Tors Hotel is a small family-run pub and restaurant in the nearby village offering good value food and drink. In the summer there are Tea rooms at the old Methodist Church.
Getting around
There is a bus service into Okehampton from the end of the lane (around 2 miles away) but the best way to get around is to have your own car.

There is space to park up to seven cars on the property.

How to get there
