The Anchorage, in the heart of the South Hams, is a real gem of a holiday home. Located minutes from the sandy Wonwell beach and a stone's throw from the infamous Dolphin Inn renowned for good food and ale. Downstairs the Anchorage has a lovely light and airy living room with open fire and wooden floors. It houses a flatscreen TV (with Freeview), DVD player with selection of DVDs, CD and radio as well as an Ipod connection allowing you to take your favourite music on holiday with you. The owners have also thoughtfully provided lots of board games. One of the sofas is also a sofa bed allowing for more flexibility with the sleeping arrangements. The kitchen/diner is dual aspect and is fully equipped complete with all mod cons including belfast sink. There is also a shower room with toilet on this floor.

We had a lovely week in this cottage, plenty of space and very well equipped. So peaceful so we got to catch up on our sleep. Great pub in the village 2 mins walk away. No parking by the house by parked at the top...More

We stayed at The Anchorage for a long weekend in January. It was the perfect break from city life. We took lots of walks in stunning locations. Bigbury and Burgh Island are a short drive but Wonwell beach is within walking distance of The Anchorage....More

Beaches: The ever popular Wonwell Beach is just down the road and boasts an unspoilt, uncrowded haven for holiday makers. Its great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing and just relaxing! Bigbury on Sea with the famous Burgh Island is a 10 minute drive. Pennywell Farm Activity Centre, Woodlands Family Theme Park and The Aquarium, Plymouth are within half an hours drive. There are an awful lot of beaches to choose from in the South Hams area and it is worth exploring to find your own preference, depending on whether you prefer sands or shingle, small coves or large beaches, or are prepared to walk.
