Views are of the stunning mountains, river and valley - a blanket bog and home to many animals, Connemara ponies and wild birds. The white tailed eagle is a visitor. The immediate area supports many wild native plants. Connemara and the Twelve Bens Mountains are a haven to those interested in nature. There are lots of books, cards, board games, CD player & CDs. Please note there is no TV/WiFi however WiFi is freely available in most cafés, pubs and restaurants locally.More

The cottage is at the end of a single track road leading up a valley in the "twelve pins" .The journey is delightfully punctuated by stops to let sheep, ponies or donkeys move to one side. Luthy Lodge is comfortable, warm ,dry and well appointed...More

This is a very nice house--well equipped and beautifully decorated. The owners are attentive and helpful and left a nice collection of goodies for us on our arrival. The setting is beautiful, only 2 miles off the main road, but feels very remote.

Luthy Lodge is located in the peaceful Glencoaghan Valley of the Twelve Bens Mountains with spectacular mountain & valley views. It is in the Recess area and only ten minutes drive to the renowned Ballynahinch Castle hotel and estate for dinner, fishing or forest and river walks. Clifden, Connemara's capital, the famous Sky Road Drive and the picturesque fishing village of Roundstone are all within a leisurely twenty minutes drive where a choice of restaraunts, pubs, art, crafts and shops are located. Among many others, the fabulous white sandy beaches of Gurteen & Dogs Bay, Coral Strand, Mannin beach and Omey Strand are within 30 minutes drive. Enjoyable days out include visiting the Connemara Championship Golf Links, the Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey & Walled Gardens, Westport...
How to get there
The cottage is approximately one hours very scenic drive from Galway City. Take the N59 from Galway to Clifden. Go straight through Moycullen, Oughterard, Maamcross (An Teach Doite) , Recess (Sraith Salach). Approximately 4 miles past Joyce's shop and pub in Recess (Sraith Salach) turn right -the sign reads Doire naFhlann, L51374, follow the road 2 miles up to Luthy. The cottage is on your right. Luthy Lodge is approx 20 minutes drive from Clifden town in Connemara. There are breathtaking views of the Glencoaghan Valley and the Twelve Bens Mountain range, also see Connemara ponies, sheep, cattle, rabbits and birds.
