Pier Cottage in Castlecove on the famous Ring of Kerry, is actually a pair of restored, old stone coastguard cottages overlooking its own private shingle beach with panoramic views over the beautiful Kenmare estuary. It can be rented throughout the year as two separate units or one interconnecting cottage sleeping 11 guests in 5 bedrooms. The West End sleeps up to 7 in three bedrooms while the smaller East End sleeps 4 in one double & one twin bedroom. She and her husband, Michael (who maintains the properties, is an expert on local fishing), - live only five minutes away, and will be on hand to ensure your stay, in this fascinating part of Ireland lives up to your expectations!

Horse riding for all ages and abilities on nearby Derrynane Dunes
Walks range from gentle strolls along the many sandy beaches (many of which are excellent for swimming) to more serious hikes over craggy hills.
Fishing: Salmon, trout and sea fishing can be arranged locally and guests can enjoy shrimping and rock fishing just below the house

Six golf courses within one hour's drive, including the Championship course at Waterville which is only 20 minutes away
Eating Out: There are several excellent and varied restaurants around.
Getting around
There is no public transport in the area...the nearest train station is in Killarney - over one hour's drive away. Although there are taxis/minicabs..even private buses locally, happy to arrange tours for our visitors, we strongly recommend that you hire a self-drive car/cars at the airport for the duration of your stay, as there is so much to explore in this fascinating area.....details on our website and in folders on arrival

How to get to Westcove (There is no public transport, so a car is essential) By Air :-The nearest airport is ‘Kerry’, 20 minutes north of Killarney and under 1½ hours drive from Pier Cottage. Ryanair fly there daily from Stansted Airport and there are also direct flights to Kerry Airport from Manchester and Luton. Cork Airport is further away, but with faster roads, driving time to the cottage is only about 2 hours. Many airlines offer flights to Cork, not only from London but from other airports in the UK and Europe (Shannon Airport is a good 3¼ hours drive away – further than it looks...
