Duck Cottage

Cottage -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Thirsk, North Yorkshire, England

Duck cottage is close by the famous cobbled market square in the centre of Thirsk, which was once the home of the novelist and vet James Herriott. We spent two weeks here in November. The cottage is good in many ways, but unfortunately a bed can make or break the holiday and for us here it did the latter. The mattress was very springy and felt old. We didn't sleep well at...More

We had a lovely break at Duck Cottage. Convenient for the town with its lovely coffee shops and pubs. Would recommend having breakfast at Bliss which is only a minute walk.

About the neighbourhood
Thirsk is an old market town located within the northern area of the Vale of York. The town and immediate surroundings are relatively flat and suitable for gentle cycling, but the fearsome gradient of Sutton Bank is less than 6 miles to the east and there are serious challenges for both cyclists and walkers in the nearby moors and dales.
