Holiday Rental House
Picture postcard Lakeland cottage at Broughton Bank, Cartmel, Cumbria. Easily accessible from outside the Lake District, it's ideal to reach most places in south Cumbria. Completely renovated, very comfortable accommodation with its own drive and secluded raised garden, making it a really picturesque location all the year round as the area benefits from the mild climate generated by the Gulf Stream. The cottage is just a few yards from the owners' home, but still feels quite separate as it has its own garden and is not overlooked: you are assured a truly peaceful and relaxing setting for your holiday home. The cottage has been designed on sustainable lines: there are solar panels on site and the underfloor heating comes from ground source. Even the materials used have been sourced sustainably: a dying pine tree was felled, cut into planks, stored and dried naturally over time and has been used to make all the doors, skirting boards and most of the stairs. Floors are made from rich walnut wood. Broughton Bank Cottage sleeps 4, with one double and one twin bedded room. A cot and highchair are available on request. WiFi is available. There are lots of walks nearby with all sorts of profiles, to suit all from very active to not so active. Pets are accepted but there is a small charge. A riding school, quad bike rental, motor museum, historic churches and stately home are all nearby, and it's a great base for easy access to the Lakes, with so many and varied things to do. Situated a mile north of Cartmel in the South Lakes Peninsulas of the Lake District in the Northwest of England, it is about 2 hours' drive from Manchester. 15 miles from the M6 motorway junction 36. The nearest railway stations are at Cark and Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands.More

A clean place, tucked away into the woods. Close enough to most major attractions on Windermere. One suggestion would be to have a google map pin, so that exact directions can be fed in. Last minute hunting can be a bit tricky.

We spent the Easter weekend in this really charming cottage. It was perfect for our family of four (2 adults and two teenagers). The cottage is ideally located in the forest (very quiet), near Cartmel (where we had all our dinners in some fantastic restaurants),...More

About the neighbourhood
Walks to Cartmel village (1 mile) and Holker Hall (3 miles), well known for its gardens, are set in lakeland scenery. Walking further up the valley one finds grandstand views of the Lakeland Fells. Cartmel, known for its old world appeal, is built around an ancient Priory. Although quite small, it boasts race course, pubs and restaurants including L'Enclume with its 2 Michelin stars, and many shops including the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding shop. There's even a speciality cheese shop and a bakery. The many attractions of this lovely area are within an easy drive. Golf and riding locally, as well as the well-known Motor Museum which now on the old Blue factory site at Backbarrow. Grange-over-Sands, a Victorian resort 3 miles to the south-east, has more facilities. To the North are the main ...
How to get there
1. From Cartmel take the main road north towards Newby Bridge. Leaving Cartmel village and in open farmland, take the first left turn. Follow this road past Aynsome Manor Hotel and up the hill at Greenbank. Pass Greenbank Farm on the bend and at the top bear right at the junction. After 400 yards / 0.25 miles the driveway is on the left. 2. There’s another route, avoiding Cartmel, south from the A590 via Field Broughton. It avoids the steep hills on minor roads which aren’t gritted in cold weather. Turn left off the A590 by Staveley, just after the end of the dual carriageway, signed ‘Cartmel 4’. Carry on for about 2½ miles before turning right for Wood Broughton, the 3rd right hand turning in quick succession after Field Broughton church. After ½ mile turn left, again for Woo...
