It has been recently refurbished with the original structure and character dating from the 17th Century and it is located in the centre of the historic town of Alston, Cumbria in the heart of the North Pennines.

Lantern House sleeps up to 8 guests plus there is a guest bed and is ideal for mixed groups and families.
The substantial holiday home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen/dining room, children's playroom, lounge, study and utility room. Fantastic holiday home. Beautifully decorated and kitchen has everything you’ll need. There was eight of us and there was plenty o space for everyone to either chill out in their own space or spend time around the kitchen table playing games from the large selection from the games room. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We had the pleasure of staying at Lantern house this past weekend with my brother and his family, all together 4 adults and 4 children aged 8-14. We stayed here during the so-called 'Chrimbo Limbo' period between Christmas and New Year. There are plenty of things to do in Alston and on Alston Moor for couples, groups and families. The South Tynedale Railway is narrow gauge railway open most of the year and close to The Hub a local museum containing old vehicles and a host of artefacts from bygone times.

There are lots of scenic walks in and around Alston and a leaflet in the study gives some useful routes and information.
Five miles up the road there is Nenthead and a couple of miles further on there is the Killhope Wheel Mining Centre.
