My adult son and I spent Thanksgiving in the Hickory Cabin and had a blast. The exterior looks like a mountain cabin, but the interiors are modern and well-equipped with Wi-fi, satellite TV, a huge modern bath with whirlpool and very comfortable furniture.
The fabulous restaurant scene in Asheville is about twenty minutes away, so we enjoyed Salza, White Duck Taco, Rocky's Hot Chicken, Universal Joint and other's, including an excellent Thanksgiving dinner at Pack's Tavern.
There are a couple of things you should be aware of, though, that didn't bother us but might not meet your expectations. This is not a secluded mountain cabin. It is a group of cabins outside Candler with a subdivision adjoining the property. It is, however, a rural farm with crowing roosters and horses.
You can see the subdivision in the winter, though I'm sure it feels isolated when leaves are on the trees.
We loved the indoor fireplace, though we couldn't get the outdoor...
