Somerset West is a popular tourist destination surrounded by magnificent mountains and vineyards, with the Indian ocean and golden sandy beaches nearby. Located 27km from Cape Town International Airport, it is ideally situated for those who appreciate scenic beauty, wine, decadent cuisine, and exciting tourist attractions. The town was named Somerset in the 1800s after an English governor of the Cape Colony, Lord Charles Henry Somerset. There are many historical sites to explore such as the Vergelegen Wine Estate (an 8-minute drive away). We are ideally situated for Nature lovers to enjoy our beautiful surrounds. There are plenty of outdoor sports clubs and adventure activities plus the local Playhouse Theatre, all within a short drive.
Getting around
The Studio on McLeod is situated in the leafy suburb of Stuart's Hill. We are within short walking distance of a variety of quaint restaurants, coffee shops, curio shops, art galleries, and the renowned Country Craft Market (a popular tourist outing), to name a few. A car is essential for touring the local wine route, historical sites and other attractions such as the Helderberg Nature Reserve, Monkeytown Primate Sactuary, Blue Rock Adventure Park, Waterworld, Cheetah Outreach, Beaches, Movie Theatre, Playhouse Theatre, Horse Riding, Golf Courses, Triggerfish Brewery, Grand West Casino and Ice Rink, V&A Waterfront, Two Oceans Aquarium, and so much more...
