Slice of heaven
What an amazing gem in the heart of the Karoo, absolutely the best... The attention to detail, decor, comfortability and all round beauty of the cottages, landscape and just everything around these cottages is absolutely amazing - cannot wait to make a longer trip of it next time... the service from Richard, Julie and team was an absolute blessing... P.S. Awesome place to get engaged!!

Attention to detail, everything was perfect
This spacious, luxurious facility has thought of everything before you can even think about it! Just loved the special touches, like real (filter) coffee, fresh milk, homebaked rusks and home-made muesli (even the recipe!). Enough towels so can wash your hair without trying to stretch one wet towel), extra bath-mats, etc. etc. There is ample space to put your ''stuff' down, electric blanket, fire-place, large super comfy bed, a great verandah to watch the sunset/sunrise from and view the milky way (stars for Africa). Cottages are 2-rooms joined - we were fortunate to have great neighbours! I will definately go back! We did not prepare meals but I could see that you would not be short of anything should you wish to - large kitchen!

Luxurious homeliness with beautiful views
Wow! Wow! Wow! This has certainly been the best value for money superior accommodation that I have stayed in. This review is long overdue. We stayed here for 3 nights in early December 2015 on route from Paternoster back to Johannesburg. Where to start... Firstly, if you haven't visited the quaint town of Prince Albert, add it to the top of your bucket list. You won't be disappointed. And secondly, make sure you stay at Karoo View cottages. Again, you won't be disappointed. The cottages are decorated really beautifully with superior furnishings. The kitchen is fully equipped with quality kitchen utensils. The bedroom and bathroom linen are also of top quality. The cottage itself is very spacious with an open plan design consisting of a very high ceiling, a large kingsize bed, lounge, dining table, and a large kitchenette, and of course bathroom. The cottages are built in a way that provides privacy between the 4 cottages. The views of the Swartberg mountain range are absolutely spectacular from the cottage patio, and from your bed! We ordered a braai (barbecue) basket from Richard & Julie which contained lovely home-baked bread, local lamb chops, butter, potato, onion, etc. The chops were really good, and the bread a real treat. Fresh milk was provided everyday - what a pleasure. I hate the longlife milk that is provided by most lodgings. Home-baked rusks were provided daily, which were really tasty. Home-baked muesli was also provided, which we did not eat but certainly looked appealing. The garden and setting of the cottages is really special. You may be visited by Richard and Julie's cat or Jack Russell, who make themselves at home and make you feel at home. Richard and Julie, the owners, stay on the property and are readily available. They are great hosts and are very helpful if you want to know what to do or where to eat in the quaint town of Prince Albert. The cottages are a 2 minute walk from the main street of Prince Albert, along which you will find a number of restaurants and quaint shops selling interesting artwork, local ceramics, souvenirs, etc. I will definitely return to this little town and to the Karoo View cottages to explore the surrounding mountains more. Friends had booked to stay in Prince Albert in March on route to the the Argus cycle tour. They cancelled the reservation they had with another lodging upon our recommendation and stayed in Karoo View cottages, and they were as impressed as we were. Don't even consider any other accommodation, this is really special, and exceptional value for money.

Luxurious retreat in quaint artist's town
The ideal place to stay if you want to explore this creative town. Karooview is within walking distance of the main road and all the shops and restaurants, yet it is quiet enough to feel "off the beaten track". There is a lovely view towards the Swartberg Mountain from the cottages. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. There are fresh provisions in the larder for your stay. Also, a lovely old farm dam that acts as a lapa for an outdoor barbeque in good weather. The beds were divine and you will not feel the cold if you visit during the winter months. We had a roaring fire, electric blankets and quality linen and duvets. A real treat for those who love a bit of luxury. Would definitely visit again.

Home away from home
Excellent accommodation, very comfortable with a lot of extra's not found elsewhere, like fresh milk, cereals, fire wood etc. which make self catering so much easier. Very helpful and friendly hosts, establishment situated close enough to town for it to be accessible, but far enough out the town to feel as if you are in the country, and to enjoy the stars at night. Strongly recommended.

Attention to detail incredible
The attention to detail in these cottages are incredible, from the fresh milk and juice in the refrigerator to the sherry for the cold winters evening. Make sure to order a braai basket - the homemade bread is superb.

Best Self Catering in Prince Albert
This excellent venue has four chalets situated on a hilltop overlooking the quaint village of Prince Albert. The chalets were very spacious and equipped more than adequately. There was fruit juice and milk from the local dairy waiting in the refrigerator and a good supply of home made muesli and rusks and other cereals for breakfast Teas and instant as well as filter coffee were on the shelf. Comfortable beds, electric blankets, fireplace, air conditioning etc. Nothing lacking..highly recommended.Staff were friendly and reception on arrival was well organized. Only negative would be that sound insulation between rooms is lacking.

A delightful place to stay
Julie and Richard have thought of everything! the cottages are superb: comfortable, stylish and very well-equipped. Marvellous beds, lovely bathrooms, beautiful Karoo vistas from the verandah, And to top everything off, there are the little touches that make you feel special: a decanter of port, some absolutely scrumptious home-made baked muesli, home-made rusks and a little 'welcome pack' highlighting some local attractions (and including the muesli recipe!)

Comfortable, well appointed self-catering cottage with lovely view
We had a friendly and efficient welcome on arrival at Karoo View Cottages situated on the edge of the little hamlet of Prince Albert. The accommodation was spacious, nicely furnished and very well appointed with a beautiful view over the Karoo landscape and the village with the backdrop of the majestic Swartberg Mountain range. Comfortable, peaceful, private and a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Highly recommended. Jenny G
