Thank you Kate I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found your way around. There are many lovely walks by the river, in the woods and up on the moors and edges , plus plenty of good places to eat nearby.

Located in The Peak District National Park which was the first area of England to be designated as such in 1963. Historic country houses and gardens, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, are surrounded by stunning and dramatic scenery with pretty villages and interesting market towns, such as Bakewell and The Spa town of Buxton all of which are within easy reach.
Splendid gentle riverside walks or more challenging treks into high moorland to peaks,tors and wildernesses for all levels of experience.
The area is renowned for its caving, bouldering and climbing activities.
The River Derwent is a well known fly-fishing river.
Nature and wildlife abound in this beautiful area.
An abundance of tea-shops, cafes, restaurants and other eateries.
Getting around
To explore the countryside to its best advantage a car would be most beneficial but there is a very good bus service in and around the area and most places can be reached fairly easily.
Railway Stations at: Sheffield, Hathersage, Grindleford and Dore.

Railway: Grindleford: 1.5 km
Airport: Manchester: Approx. 35 miles.
Railway stations at: Matlock-13 miles, Sheffield-10 miles (20 minutes), Grindleford approx 1.5 miles.
By road from either the North or the South on the M1 take junction 30 for Chesterfield on the A619 all the way to Baslow then take the A623 to Calver. At Calver crossroads follow the signs for Froggatt.
