This lovely villa located in the peaceful hamlet of Bourgnac has extensive, secure gardens with a 9 metre by 4 metre private pool. The outside terrace overlooks the pool, patio and gardens. The property is entirely enclosed and provides a great exploring space for children. The house is set on approximately 1 acre and features beautiful gardens and a small secluded wood to explore. Internally there are 2 double and 1 twin bedroom, a large lounge and dining area with wood burning fireplace, with 32' TV and DVD Player receiving over 40 Freeview UK channels.Board games such as Scrabble and Cluedo, Jenga and chess and backgammon are also on hand. An iPod docking station and a CD player are available for you to listen to Charles Aznavour whilst relaxing on your sun bed by the pool! The kitchen is fully equipped with oven/hob, coffee maker, fridge/freezer, microwave and even a dishwasher. Bathroom with shower, and another separate toilet. The utility room also provides a washing machine and tumble dryer, an iron and ironing board. Cot and high chair are provided. Mussidan is the nearest town about 3.5 miles away with a selection of bars and a few restaurants and takeaway establishments. No McDonalds for 25 miles - heaven! The boulangeries in Mussidan provide excellent bread, croissants and pastries for breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pool. There are many supermarkets in Mussidan including Intermarche and SuperU . There's even a Lidl and Netto! For those who enjoy walking the house is ideally situated for this too. A car is essential due to the location of the villa and an English owned company called Buggs Car Hire situated at Bergerac Airport is highly recommended. The area is also served by cheap flights to both Bergerac (27km) and Bordeaux (108km) Airports. If you chose to take your own car Bourgnac is a 518 mile journey from Calais and takes around 8 hours if you make use of the Toll roads. There are 3 adult sized bikes for guests' use and a pool table, dart board and croquet set for the less energetic. Allied to the tranquillity of the villa, the historic town of Bergerac (with all amenities) and the Dordogne River are both within 20 miles. Ideally situated for wine lovers, the house is within easy driving distance of classic vineyards such as St Emilion, Bordeaux and many local favourites such as Bergerac and Percharmant. There are many high quality and fairly priced restaurants within an easy drive.. The open and unspoilt Atlantic beaches beyond Bordeaux are just over an hour's drive, while the famous seaside town of Arcachon, with its oyster beds and Europe's largest sand dune, is a little further. The French also enjoy a phenomenon known as La Grand Etang - basically an inland lake with a sandy beach. The wonderful Grand Etang de La Jemaye is 18 miles from the villa and a great day out with cafe, restaurant and free canoe use in high season and a childrens' play area. ****An inflatable 2 person KAYAK is available for use of guests at The Cabin Also an Archery Set!!!!!!!!!!! Both to be used at Guest's own risk******************** Sorry. No pets allowed. So in summary, the Captains' Cabin is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Lets' face it - we all need that once in a while. CYCLING The Dordogne is an ideal region for visitors to France with something for everyone… whether you are looking for history, food or just a relaxing French break. We think that the best way to explore the Dordogne is by bike!  With 1000s of kms of cycle routes it is easy to experience everything this diverse region has to offer. Our 5 favourite routes are in the guest folder at the property. BIRD WATCHING Perhaps surprisingly, Dordogne has more to offer in this respect than many French rural areas. This is due to the diversity of habitats found here, despite being a landlocked region. For example, special birds include Common Crane, Eagle Owl, Little Bustard, Short-toed Eagle, Montagu’s Harrier, Dartford Warbler, Woodchat Shrike, Alpine Swift, Black and Middle Spotted Woodpeckers, Tawny Pipit, Subalpine Warbler and Ortolan Bunting. With a bit of local knowledge, timing and luck, a good range of species can be found, including some of the more sought-after ones WALKING If you’re looking for timeless landscapes, fairy-tale villages and scenic walking, the Dordogne is hard to beat – paths meander through fields of sunflowers and walnut trees beneath dramatic cliffs topped by crumbling châteaux.
