At the very end of a dead-end street, our cottage property extends into the salt water marsh of Sampson Cove, with privacy on 3 sides. The boardwalk takes you to the water at high tide, a perfect place to launch kayaks and explore the harbor islands of Cape Porpoise. These islands are all owned by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, which means you can go onto any of these islands to explore, picnic or swim. The lighthouse can also be visited at Goat Island, located at the entrance to Cape Porpoise Harbor. And, yes you can swim into the fall, since the shallow waters of Stage Harbor warm up the tide as it comes onto the bare sand, You can even camp overnight on Cape or Trott Island by obtaining a permit at the local police station.
