Holiday Rental House
Ramson Lodge is set in a meadow surrounded by woodland and undulating countryside where heavy horses, cattle and sheep would have grazed. It stands with just 4 other purpose built Holiday Lodges in a tranquil location approached by a private driveway through meadow land. Each of the Lodges is in the New England style offering high standard of sustainability and energy saving features. As part of our landscaping and infrastructure we have planted over 3,000 trees, created a lake, installed solar panels to assist in the supply of electricity and reinstated a hydraulic ram built in 1886 to help supply fresh water to the lake. Guests can enjoy private walks to take in the abundant wildlife. Ramson Lodge has its own hot tub situated on the veranda for guests to enjoy the view. More

Interaction with guests
We do not have a representative on site 24/7, but do provide contact numbers should there be any problems. A member of our housekeeping team checks the quality of the water in the hot tub every day, so you will see somebody on site regularly. We have found, however, that each guest is different and some prefer to enjoy the peaceful surroundings without interruption. We therefore try to avoid disturbing guests unless they approach us!

About the neighbourhood
The lodges are situated in a private meadow which contains a winding brook and private fishing lake (for exclusive use of guests). There are plenty of country walks and a wealth of local pubs and restaurants to sample. If you want to go a little further afield, Colchester Zoo is within 20 minutes drive, not to mention Colchester Castle in one of Britain's oldest Roman towns. Want some culture? Gainsborough House (Thomas Gainsborough's birthplace) is in Sudbury and displays a number of his paintings. A glass of wine more your thing? Dedham Vale Vineyard is a short drive away and set in 40 acres of glorious rolling English countryside. Not forgetting a round of golf at the Colne Valley Golf Club, the area has something for everyone!
How to get there
The easiest way to get to the lodges is by car - we are about 15 minutes from the Stanway, Colchester exit off the A12. You could also come by train - there are stations nearby in Colchester and Marks Tey, not to mention a small station in Chappel/Wakes Colne itself. Local taxis will take you the mile and a half to the Lodges.
