The cottage was enjoyable and met all our needs. The views from the cottage are fantastic, mountains and sea. We found the area interesting and followed some of the local walks outlined in the cottage information.

Great little cottage, superb location & views - had all we needed for a wonderful break. Easy walk to the shore, and to the lighthouse at Stoer. View of Canisp, Suilven etc from the kitchen & living room was an unexpected treat too!

About the neighbourhood
Beaches Close By : 4 beautiful sandy beaches are found within a very short drive: spectacular Achmelvich, Culkein, Clachtoll or Clashnessie. Both Clachtoll and Achmelvich are popular for swimming, canoeing and windsurfing and Achmelvich has wonderful rock pools at low tide. Walking Around Meall Dubh:In less than 5 minutes' walk from the cottage you are on Raffin's own rocky beach. If you are lucky you will catch sight of an otter or basking shark, whales or even dolphins. Alternatively, you can walk or cycle down the quiet single track road to Stoerhead Lighthouse to look across to the Outer Hebrides, or view the magnificent sunsets. This is a well-known spot for wildlife watching (whales, dolphins, basking sharks, birds, otters), and for walking to see the famous Old Man of Stoer sea sta...
How to get there
Directions: From Inverness: Take the A9 north for approximately 10 miles and then follow the A835(Ullapool). At Ledmore Junction (75 miles) turn left on to the A837 (Lochinver). Just before you enter Lochinver turn right on the B869 (Stoer). Follow the signs for Stoer Head Lighthouse. After approximately 7 miles, at Stoer village hall, turn left towards the lighthouse. Carry on past the turns for Clashmore and Balchladich and over the next hill you will enter the small township of Raffin. Meall Dubh is at the far end of Raffin, and is the next house after Burnside.
