Runie Lodge was built as the local school in 1851 and has been refurbished providing a high quality holiday home with spacious rooms which can comfortably accommodate 5 persons. Original stone features, oak beams, wood burning stoves and tastefully decorated in Farrow and Ball colours, the lodge is tranquil and the ideal location to relax and unwind. The holiday home is in the schoolteachers wing. The kitchen is a social area with table, chairs and window seat, fully equipped to a high standard with range cooker, retro fridge & ice box and island unit. Look out to the garden and river and chat to the family while preparing the dinner. The emphasis is on comfort and the wood burners provide a warming focal point in the sitting room and kitchen with all the logs provided. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, a very spacious king size room and bed with down duvet, antique furniture and a lovely French stove. A twin room with stunning stag wallpaper and a cosy single room, for convenience the king and twin rooms also have wash basins. Chandeliers, soft duvets and quality bed linen all add to a restful nights sleep The old schoolteachers house has its own driveway & private entrance with ample parking. The garden has cycle storage, is dog friendly and there are walks directly from the lodge. For little ones we can provide a cot, high chair and stair gate. Runie Lodge is situated just 7 miles north of Ullapool and is ideally situated for exploring the north west coast of the Highlands, its the perfect place to return to after a day on the hills or beaches. An adventure playground right outside the gate, the area offers all types of outdoor activities, if you like to be surrounded by natural beauty in comfort then Runie Lodge is the place for you! More

The cottage is ideally located for exploring the beautiful north west highlands. It is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and very peaceful. The accommodate is extremely comfortable with everything required for a home from home holiday. We hope to visit again.

I live locally so am nearby if you have any problems, you will receive my mobile number when you make a booking. We'll send you directions to find the house and I usually greet you at the house so we get to meet each other. In the event of any issues in the house while you are staying (which is rare) we have local electricians, plumbers and various other tradesmen we can call on.

About the neighbourhood
The ferry to Stornoway offers the chance of a unique day trip over the Minch to the Isle of Lewis or the harbour is an ideal place to sit and watch the local fishing boats. Book a trip to see The Summer Isles and wildlife on either Seascape rib or the Shearwater speedboat. Close by is Knockan Crag visitor centre with information about the geology of the area, there are walking trails with amazing views. Ullapool Museum has interesting displays and much local information especially about the fishing history. Visit the 1 mile long Corrieshalloch Gorge where the river plunges 150 feet over the Falls of Meashach, walk across the suspension bridge for superb photo opportunities.
