Our bright and comfortable self-catering accommodation sleeps two. The studio apartment is on a hill overlooking the village of Ullapool, Scotland, with breathtaking views over Loch Broom and the surrounding mountains. The studio is a part of our house, but completely self-contained with its own entrance.

The main room has plenty of space for the king-size bed and a lounge area. The south facing sun porch has windows on three sides and provides a scenic space in which to eat, relax, and enjoy the views. It's rare for us to write a review whilst still on site but it's rare to find a little gem like Braes Studio. Views are stunning and the studio is cosy and well equipped. It's tempting to not write a review and just keep it to yourself but Rosie and Craig are charming, unobtrusive hosts and deserve every success ....

Very cosy little studio flat, with great views over Loch Broom. Really peaceful (despite Storm Ophelia!) and a great spot for doing some writing and thinking. Very clean, nice and warm. Definitely recommend.

About the neighbourhood
Ullapool is a picturesque fishing village in north-west Scotland, situated on the shores of Loch Broom. Despite having a population of only around 1500, the village is full of amenities, being the main hub for a vast area and on the route to the Western Isles. There are plenty of pubs, eateries and shops, a small supermarket, a petrol station, a museum, a theatre and an excellent public swimming pool.

Ullapool has a growing reputation as a centre for music and the arts, with various festivals throughout the season. From Easter to October the village is vibrant with live music in the pubs most nights, great seafood, boat trips, and a colourful Saturday market. Winter is much quieter, and opening hours may need to be checked.
Getting around
Most of our guests arrive by car, and find this a really useful way to see the area. It really is worth driving a few hours up and down the coast while you're here to visit various beaches, villages, walking routes, and attractions such as Inverewe Gardens or Corrieshalloch Gorge. However, if you're prepared to investigate local buses and do quite a lot of walking, it's possible to manage without a car. Bear in mind you would be carrying your shopping up the hill to the house. There are two local taxi companies we can provide details for. If you are bringing bikes or kayaks we would be happy to discuss possible routes for you.

Ferry: Ullapool: 2.2 km
Ullapool is an hour's scenic drive from Inverness, where there are national rail and coach links and an international airport. There are bus services between Inverness and Ullapool, and a regular shuttle bus between the airport and bus station. The Calmac ferry to Stornoway leaves from Ullapool harbour twice most days. The A835 through the village is part of the famous North Coast 500 route.

Braes is a small residential area on the fringes of the village, up a steep single track road.
