The south facing sun porch has windows on three sides and provides a scenic space in which to eat, relax, and enjoy the views. The kitchenette is tiny but well-equipped with fridge, mini oven, hob and grill, microwave, toaster, kettle and cookware. The spacious bathroom has a full size bath with shower. A smaller room at the back of the flat is useful for your luggage and clothes, with drawers and a hanging rail. There is a decked and covered seating area just outside the apartment, which is reserved for your personal use. You are also welcome to explore the terraced garden, where you may be lucky enough to see a red squirrel. A burn runs down the garden towards the loch. We can store bikes and wet gear in the large dry workshop next to the flat, and there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer available to guests by agreement. We are a few minutes from Ullapool village centre by car, or around 30 minutes to walk. The location is ideal for hill-walkers, with tracks leading to Ullapool Hill and views of the Summer Isles just a few steps from the end of the road. The apartment is very well insulated with double glazing, central heating and electric heaters. Absolutely no smoking please. The TV has a freesat box and integral DVD player, and the free Wi-Fi is reliable and fast. You should be aware that our friendly dog and cat will be around the house and garden, but hopefully not in the apartment. For this reason we ask guests not to bring their own pets please.More

About the neighbourhood
Ullapool is a picturesque fishing village in north-west Scotland, situated on the shores of Loch Broom. Despite having a population of only around 1500, the village is full of amenities, being the main hub for a vast area and on the route to the Western Isles. There are plenty of pubs, eateries and shops, a small supermarket, a petrol station, a museum, a theatre and an excellent public swimming pool. Ullapool has a growing reputation as a centre for music and the arts, with various festivals throughout the season. From Easter to October the village is vibrant with live music in the pubs most nights, great seafood, boat trips, and a colourful Saturday market. Winter is much quieter, and opening hours may need to be checked.
Getting around
Most of our guests arrive by car, and find this a really useful way to see the area. It really is worth driving a few hours up and down the coast while you're here to visit various beaches, villages, walking routes, and attractions such as Inverewe Gardens or Corrieshalloch Gorge. However, if you're prepared to investigate local buses and do quite a lot of walking, it's possible to manage without a car. Bear in mind you would be carrying your shopping up the hill to the house. There are two local taxi companies we can provide details for. If you are bringing bikes or kayaks we would be happy to discuss possible routes for you.
