Cottage -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Staithes, North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire, England
Wake up to this stunning view, relax and put your feet up, and enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon tea sitting outside our traditional cottage gazing at the fishing boats bobbing about in the beck, or out to sea. No need to go anywhere.

Regularly stayed in and painted by artists, this 18th Century former fisherman's cottage at 4 Cowbar Bank is quaint and cosy, and ideal for a romantic getaway or walking holiday. The cottage is in the middle of the three Fishermen's Cottages, with blue windows and a front terrace with a seat - and now a new lawn!

More recently, our cottage has become celebrated as 'Old Jack's' - home to the main character (played by Bernard Cribbins) in the BBC's popular children's series Old Jack's Boat on CBeebies.

The cottage sleeps 2 in a pretty double bedroom on the first floor...

Interaction with guests
Our housekeepers will clean the cottage just before your arrival and leave the door open, with the key inside on the table - that way you can relax the minute you arrive. They live two minutes away across the footbridge and are always on hand if you need anything, day or night. They may well pop across to make sure everything is to your satisfaction but mostly will leave to in peace to enjoy your stay with no intrusion.

Lovely little cottage, cosy and comfortable and with parking right outside. Staithes has some great, dog friendly pubs and cafes and it’s a great base to explore the local area, cliff top walks and neighbouring bays and towns.

If you're after a cosy, genuine, unspoilt cottage in a fishing village, this is it. It's tiny yet perfectly formed - ideal for just the two of us - and is a combination of going through a timewarp to the 1960s for the decor, fireplace...More

About the neighbourhood
Staithes is a natural harbour where Roxby Beck meets the sea, surrounded by breathtaking coastal scenery. It's on the Cleveland Way with stunning walks either along the cliffs or inland. There's a sandy beach, a stony shore and piers for fishing.

Visiting Staithes is like stepping back in time. Picturesque, higgledy-piggledy cottages with red pantiled roofs are grouped around tiny yards, up steps, down winding cobbled streets or through a maze of alleyways - and clearly steeped in history. There's not much that hasn't sprung from the sea and fishing - even the houses are named after boats - Blue Jacket House, Star of Hope Cottage, Mizpah Cottage, Confidence Cottage, Unity House and Wavelet.
