The Gallery Flat is a 2-bedroom self-catering apartment situated in the centre of Moretonhampstead, a small moorland town in the North-East sector of Dartmoor National Park. Sleeping up to 4 people, the flat offers modern comfortable accommodation on the upper two floors of a late 16th century town house, above a small art gallery at street level, and has its own separate entrance. The flat comprises, on the first floor, a living room with a dining area, a galley kitchen and a bathroom, and on the second floor, a double bedroom (with a standard queen-size bed), a twin bedroom (with two single beds) and a small seating area. The flat is part of an old building, and there's barely a right-angle in the whole place. No two rooms are at the same level; there are a number of single and double steps throughout the property, and the stairs to the bedrooms are quite narrow and steep. The result is a quirky and unusual flat with great charm, but it is with regret that we have to say that it is NOT suitable for very young children or people with limited mobility. The building has been completely refurbished recently, and the flat is being let for the first time in Spring 2015. More

We have many guests who arrive late in the evening but arrive when they say they will, and it's not a problem, so the lateness of the arrival was not the issue. We pride ourselves on being as flexible and accommodating as possible for all...More

About the neighbourhood
Moretonhampstead, the 'Gateway to the Moor', is an ancient market town in the North-East sector of Dartmoor National Park. Although it's a small town – quiet at night – there's a lot going on. The town has a variety of shops and services, and in particular, there's a Co-op supermarket, four pubs – all serving great food – and two cafes all within about a hundred metres of the flat. The local sports centre has a gym, tennis courts, football pitch and skittles, and a variety of other sports activities take place there. A solar-heated outdoor swimming pool is located behind the Court Street car park. The town boasts several ancient and interesting buildings, such as the Alms Houses and the Parish Church of St Andrew, which dates from around 1450 and stands on high ground adjoining the Sentry, the town's recreation area.
How to get there
We're easy to find, right in the centre of Moretonhampstead, at 1 Ford Street, beside the Gateway Tearoom on the corner of Ford Street and New Street. The Union Inn is more or less opposite. You can reach Moretonhampstead by bus from Exeter.
