About the neighbourhood
Hermanus and the surrounding area of the Overberg have much to offer: the scenery is wonderful – the combination of the sea (and the whale-watching in season) and the mountains, make this one of the most beautiful places on earth. Many people come to Hermanus to watch for whales which visit the bay from July through to November (and of course the famous Whales Festival in September). Others come for the fabulous beaches, to swim, surf or just enjoy the sun. But there are plenty of other activities to enjoy: shark cage diving, kayaking trips, or Fernkloof Nature Reserve offers a range of spectacular walks among the fynbos. Wine lovers come to taste the wines produced in the Hemel En Aarde valley or along the Stanford Wine Route.
