The town of Punat is situated in the southwest part of the Island of Krk, only 8 km from the City of Krk. Punat is about 35km from the Rijeka Airport and can also be reached by car from the mainland crossing the Krk bridge.
In the Punat Bay lies the islet of Košljun with a Franciscan monastery dating to 1447. The island's surface area of 68 square meters is the home to over 400 Mediterranean plants and 100 species of mushrooms which grow here. Its only inhabitants are the Franciscan monks who live in the monastery and maintain the spirituality of this holy place. You can visit Košljun with a boat from Punat.
