Perfectly equipped and central location - felt right at home
We were a group of five, including a child and grandmother, and were looking for a place that would accommodate us all comfortably while still being close to the town centre. This apartment proved to be perfect. It is located in a secure closed complex in a quiet residential area a short 10 minute stroll from the town centre. Its 3 bedrooms were perfectly equipped with warm bedding - something very important in the colder months! Added to this are the double glazed windows and the central heating, with radiators in the master bedroom, dining room and upstairs sitting room which keep the apartment pleasantly warm. The two bedrooms upstairs can get a bit cold, but there is a portable electric heater that can be used.
The kitchen is magnificently equipped, which is perfect for those who like to cook. It has a medium sized fridge, microwave, gas cooktop and electric oven as well as a variety of utensils and crockery. The laundry area has a washing machine and I understand that the owner, Carmen, is thinking of purchasing a dryer which would be perfect for the wet winter months. Even so, we found ours clothes dried quite quickly in front of the upstairs radiator on the portable clothes dryer. The linen and towels provided are all of great quality, which in my opinion adds greatly to the homey feeling of a place.
There is also an undercover parking space, but the access is not undercover, you need to walk through the courtyard, which can make things a bit awkward trying to hold an umbrella when it's raining while juggling shopping bags! But Puerto Varas is notorious for its rain - after all rain and breath-taking green scenery go hand in hand. The courtyard does have a few steps, which might be a problem for those withe mobility limitations. Otherwise the apartment block itself has an elevator.
The owner Carmen does not live in Puerto Varas but is very attentive via phone and messages, and her associate Jaquelyne, who lives in Puerto Varas, met with us and gave us the keys. She is very helpful and can be contacted at any time if need be.
Overall, the whole family enjoyed our stay immensely and we definitely recommend it!
