A spacious 3-bedroomed loft, bathed in tropical light, reflects the personality of the architect, artist and designer Tilak Samarawickrema. The loft exudes a feeling of calm and serenity with its white walls, high ceilings, and mid-century modern furniture, combined with his art. The limpid curves of Samarawickrema's unique line drawings reflects the sensuality of the Sinhalese alphabet. Upon entering the loft, the towering wire sculptures make a special statement with the shadow effects of its threads dancing on the wall like living things. The hand woven tapestries on the walls give one insight into the warp and weft of the indigenous weavers of the island and their manifestation of modern design. Here one can relax in the comfort and warmth of a tropical island retreat and reflect on...A spacious 3-bedroomed loft, bathed in tropical light, reflects the personality of the architect, artist and designer Tilak Samarawickrema. Here one can relax in the comfort and warmth of a tropical island retreat and reflect on a unique aesthetic experience. The space is an ideal quiet stay for families on vacation (foreign & expatriate Sri Lankan), visiting consultants, research scholars, visiting academics etc. The spacious living and dining room 16 feet x 27 feet lead on to a narrow balcony 4 feet x 16 feet. The private street below ( cul- de -sac ) nor the private houses across the road are visible from the balcony due to lush green trees providing complete privacy to the living and dining room. The same applies to the bedrooms. The Loft is equipped with all amenities - living and dining areas, pantry, attached toilet, study room & storage room. The three bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning, Wi-Fi connection, a queen-sized bed, writing table and cupboard. The well-equipped spacious pantry includes a refrigerator, a four burner cooker, sink, electric kettle and all of the basic cookware, dinnerware, and cutlery for day-to-day meal preparation. Located in the residential neighbourhood of Colombo 05, at the end of a cul-de-sac, he loft is a short walk down tree lined Sulaiman Avenue to coffee shops, cafes, bakeries, a juice bar, a Chinese and Japanese restaurant, two Pizzarias, a laundry and two supermarkets where guests will find fresh produce and familiar staples. Fifteen minutes walk to the UNDP head office at Bauddhaloka Mawatha. Twenty minutes to Independence square's jogging and walking paths, and the boutiques and cafes at the new bustling Arcade. The distance to the Marine Drive and ocean is 2 km. More
