Simply beautiful. A truly spacious apartment, perfect for a family or group of friends travelling together. Ideally located at Bakats Ter, with a large balcony overlooking the fine gothic church set in peaceful gardens, yet only steps from the restaurants and bars of Raday utca and transport links.

About the neighbourhood
Bakats ter is a peaceful oasis centred on one the city's most and beautiful and striking churches. There is a handy mini-market on the square and a traditional Hungarian bakery, which is a pleasant place to have morning coffee and select a local delicacy. The apartment is perfectly situated at the end of Raday utca, so that you have all the restaurants there 'on your doorstep', but will not be disturbed by any noise. Raday utca has a huge variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. Most are priced as 'mid-range', but there is also 'COSTES' which is Michelin starred. If you appreciate good wine, don't miss the opportunity to try local wines. They are excellent, and amazing value for money. Do try the sweet dessert wine,Tokaji. Hungarians are correctly proud of this world-class product. Music venues include the IF Cafe which has live jazz nightly, and is a great place to relax over dinner or just a drink. Things to do/see nearby to the apartment: The Danube river: Only 1 block from the apartment, the famous river sweeps majestically through the city. The views are simply breath-taking, especially at dusk. Central Market (10 min walk): This huge food market operates every day except Sunday and national holidays. It still operates as a locals food market, with old Hungarian ladies lining up to buy meat, fish and vegetables, but it is also firmly established on the tourist trail too, not least because it's a good place to pick up a cheap, fresh, Hungarian speciality for lunch. This is Hungarian food prepared in a traditional way. Student district around Semmelweis University (15 min walk): Hungary's top university, particularly renowned for medicine, is surrounded by a lovely, calm part of the city. Situated in the part of District VIII behind the National Museum, it's worth strolling from Loric Pap Ter, leading off through Krudy Gyula utca. You'll find another cluster of non-touristy, lovely cafes and bars to stop and a take drink. New National Theatre: It's a 20 min walk along the Danube from the apartment. A remarkable building, it's worth taking a stroll there just for the architecture! Lots of great productions in English as well as Hungarian. New Glass-Roofed Exhibition Centre: No more than 7-8 min walk away walking towards the Danube river. You can't fail to see the impressive new glass-roofed exhibition centre. It has a commanding position on the river side and is glimpsed if you look up any side street off Raday looking towards the river. There are some nice riverside bars and art galleries there. It does also make for a good place to walk particularly in the evening, as the sun goes down. More practically, it is the nearest place to catch the no.2 tram....see below. Local Transport links: No.2 Tram: Runs along the Danube on the Pest side from the new Exhibition Centre (see above) to Parliament Square, with spectacular views of the river, the Buda Castle and Chain Bridge along the way. It features regularly in lists of the world's top trolley rides. No.4 & No.6 Tram: Runs in a semi-circle along the Josef Korut ring-road which encircles down-town Pest. This is the easiest way to get to the Oktogon interchange for the famous Andrassy (central boulevard of Budapest), the Opera House, Heroes Square and the Szechenyi baths. All of which are a must-see. The nearest stop to the apartment is a 5 min walk to Josef Korut (when standing in front of the church in Bakats Ter, turn right). Kalvin Ter: Located at the other end of Raday utca, so a 10 min walk from the apartment. This is a major transport hub, with both trams running through (to the Keleti railway station) and also 2 (lines 3 & 4) out of the city's 4 metro lines. Line 4 opened in March 2014 and worth taking a look at the impressive new station.
How to get there
Airport: The easiest way to get from the airport to the apartment is by licensed taxi. Taxis are are readily available just outside the arrival hall, from the taxi control centre just on the left. They will allocate a taxi for you and give you an estimate of the correct fare, which will be around 6500 HUF or 22 EUR. Journey time is under 30 mins. We can arrange for a taxi to meet you, of course. Keleti Train Terminus: You can take a taxi the short distance to the apartment. It is 4 km and takes around 12 mins depending on traffic. Alternatively, and my preferred option, is to take the metro line 4 to Kalvin ter. The apartment is a 10 walk along the famous Raday utca from there. Trams are also available to Kalvin ter.
Airport: Budapest International: 19.0 km
Railway: Budapest Keleti: 4.0 km
