About the neighbourhood
Koukaki, the neighborhood on the south slope of the Acropolis is an old area with a history of thousands of years. The new Acropolis Museum designed by architect Bernard Tschumi has brought new life the area. The pedestrianized street network around the Acropolis with its small cafes and shops is the meeting point for both Athenians and visitors from all over the world. The Acropolis on the one side and the 'listed' historic neoclassical buildings on the other, make Dionysiou Areopagitou Str one of the finest promenades in the world. The old traditional area of Plaka, only a few blocks away, is a unique place to visit, not only for its traditional architecture, the archaeological sites and the museums, but also for its tavernas and the amazing nightlife. The Acropolis metro station... more
Getting around
It is easy to visit the city without renting a car since you can walk to the most important highlights of the center.
If you have an interest in Archeology the most interesting spots are walking distance from the apartment. But to get to the places of historical interest you walk through the old city of Plaka, the flea market where you see young people, souvenir shops and little restaurants open during the whole day till late at night. If you like the nightlife many open air clubs are in the center and near the sea a few kms outside the city
Car not needed
How to get there
Ferry: PIRAEUS: 10.0 km
You can take the metro from the airport and arrive to Acropolis Metro Station (this is not a direct line, you have to change your line at Syntagma station) or the suburban train (neither this is a direct line, you need a double change at Doukissis Plakentias Station and Syntagma Station)
The relevant cost is 10 euros per adult and you need 70-90 minutes to reach Acropolis Station in this way.
Once you arrive at Acropolis Metro Station you have to walk 50 meters in the pedestrian Makrygianni Street and the second block is Lempessi road.

Otherwise you can take a taxi, the normal price for the center of Athens is 35 euros plus the charge for your luggage or arrange a private transfer with the flat's owner
