Whether you want to curl up and enjoy the ambience of our sympathetically restored Grade II listed building, or step out and use the Church as a base to enjoy the craggy hills and valleys of the North Pennines or the North Lakes, Old St. John's Church is the perfect hideaway.

Having been bought in 2010, the Church has undergone complete restoration and conversion from Church to home, and has been featured on Channel 4's - Restoration Man.

Two kingsize beds and one superking/twin (changeable). 2 en-suites with bath and shower over, 1 en-suite shower only.

The kitchen is located in the curved end of the Church with a magnificent curved worktop; it is well equipped (and now includes a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine if you want to bring your own coffee pods).

There is also a separate 'snug' - the former vestry.

The fireplace is double sided.

About the neighbourhood
Penrith is the main town of the North Lakes. It is on the boundary of the Lake District National Park, with Ullswater and Haweswater just a stones throw away with remainder of the Lakes not too far either. Nearer to Gamblesby is Long Meg and her daughters (stone circle), Little Salkeld water mill, South Tyndale Railway, Coombes Wood, Kirk Neuk studio and the Village Bakery. Hadrian's walls is also close by.

By Car - leave the M6 at junction 40, take the A66 east (Appleby/Brough), at the next roundabout take the A686 following signs for Alston. Travel approx. 9 miles to Melmerby, as you leave the village there is a sharp right hand bend, take a left turn on this bend (signed Gamblesby). Travel ~1 mile, as you enter the village you will see Old St. John's Church on the left.
