About the neighbourhood
The earliest population of Talamanca of whom we are aware were the Bribri and Cabecar indians who lived in the interior, mostly along watercourses. Later, afro-caribbean people settled along the coast, founding the villages of Old Harbour (Puerto Viejo), Grape Point (Punta Uva), Manchineel (Manzanillo), and Monkey Point (Punta Mona). Estimating driving time :
From San Jose by Braulio Carillo : 4h30 hours
Ask your hotel in San Jose or your car rental agent to explain you how to reach the road 32 to LIMON. Keep straight until you reach LIMON.
After the toll and the tunnel you will pass Braulio Carillo national park. This is a scenic road which goes up and down the mountains through the rain forest.
Once you have reached the low lands, the road goes through the towns of Guapiles, Guacimo and Siquirres. 60 km after Siquirres, you will reach the provincial capital city of Limón.
Once you have passed the landmark cemetery on both sides of the road, make a right at the traffic light, where signs direct you towards Cahuita.
