Little Treasure

Cottage -
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Onetangi, Waiheke Island, North Island
What a beautiful cottage! It has bifold doors that open out the whole width of the cottage, which makes you feel like living outdoors. Outside you are surrounded by natives and an organic orchard. Wonderful sea views, which you can enjoy from the large deck facing the sunny North. On the eastern side morning sun streams through a large bifold window, flooding the whole cottage with light in the early morning, that makes you want to get up! In the late summer the sunsets are breathtaking looking out from the deck over the hill to the western side of the Island and its surrounding Islands. The huge deck has a large sun umbrella, timber and canvas furniture, and a BBQ. A cozy hideaway, very privately located away from the house. Inside the cottage the oiled Kauri floors, the wooden windows and doors give it a warm and inviting feel to it.... Read more

Interaction with guests
You are welcome to join us between 8.30 am and 10.00 am for breakfast in the main house. I know great bush walks on the Island & some stunning sea side walks, loving to walk myself. I can recommend beautiful restaurants & vineyards to enjoy for hours on end..and Oneroa is great little town to stroll through and enjoy one of the many Cafes. I can help you with maps and any info you need. There is a great cinema on the Island, with couches and cushions in a very relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend not to miss it. Pick a good movie and book early and you are in for a memorable experience. If you want to have a private holiday and not see a soul, the place is so tucked away, you may not see me even once.

About the neighbourhood
My cottage is right up on the ridge overlooking Palm Beach. It is a quiet No exit street which has a rural feeling to it. The cow paddock is just 50 m down the road and a couple of goats in my neighbouring paddock.
Onetangi is 40 min walk (5 min. drive) and Palm Beach 10 min walk (5 min. drive) from my place. Oneroa, a buzzing little town with great restaurants is 10 min. drive and has a beautiful beach. Waiheke is a stunningly beautiful Island with renowned wines, great wineries, beautiful beaches and great walks.
Getting around
There are different companies offering tours and day trips to see the Island.
If you want to explore by foot, a 1/2 hour walk takes you to Ostend which has a supermarket, Cafes, gift shops & a buzzing Saturday market.
Allow an hour for a walk to stunningly beautiful Onetangi beach. To get there you can partly walk on a track along the sea side and the other part along the main road. You can drive there in 5 min.
There are 2 walking tracks which take you down to Palm Beach, one going through a bush and the other one down a paddock. On the walk down the paddock you have a beautiful panoramic sea view. It will take you about 10 min. to walk down, but uphill will take you longer unless you are superfit.
Car advised
How to get there
Airport: Waiheke Island: 5.0 km
Ferry: Matiatia: 8.0 km
If you have your car on the mainland, I highly recommend bringing it over on the car ferry. This is by far your best option. With a car you are able to get a good look around the whole Island. If you want to rent a car on the Island, you can come over on the passenger ferry and rent a car at the wharf on your arrival. They also rent scooters and bicycles (the bicycles can be hired with a battery because it is so hilly and they feel sorry for you!)
You may prefer not to rent a vehicle and get around by foot or go on different bus tours to see the Island.
As far as arriving on the Island without transport, you have two options:
1. If you come with a backpack, you can take a bus to Palm Beach, from there you can walk up a steep bush track for about 10 min.
2. If you come with a suitcase, your...
