Interaction with guests
Sue, the host, lives on site but quite separately. She likes to be available should guests need anything but otherwise believes it important to not to intrude. On those occasions when sue is not available then there will always be someone else who can be called in the event of a problem. Sue is also keen to be as flexible as possible so arrival and checkout times will be movable to suit guests where ever this is possible.

About the neighbourhood
Rutland is a lovely county and Greetham is a great spot from which to explore it. Rutland Water is just three miles away where there are good walks, water sports and leisure cruises on the water. Oakham, the County town, is just fifteen minutes away where guests can visit Oakham castle and also find interesting shops and restaurants. Rutland has so many lovely stone villages all with good pubs providing great ambiance and good food. The area is well known for cycling, walking and golf at either Greetham Valley or the Rutland Water course.

Historic Stamford with its wonderful churches, wonderful stone buildings, great shopping and many excellent restaurants is just seven miles away. and several theatres within reasonable distance.
Getting around
There is a bus into Oakham but a car is recommended and definitely necessary for guests who want to really explore the local area. As well as exploring Rutland some families with children have taken advantage of the opportunity to visit the National Space Museum in Leicester which is only 45 minutes or so away. Having said all of that, guests have reported that they have also been very happy to relax in the barn and sit in the garden on good days without ever going anywhere at all.

Greetham is just a few minutes off the A1 on the B668 signed Oakham, Clipsham, Stocken and Stretton. From the North guests should turn left off the slip road and head into the village. First landmark is the Wheatsheaf pub on the left, next third right turn is Great Lane - where guests should turn in and will see the Folly gates immediately on the left. Parking is on site.

From the South the slip road comes to a roundabout where guests should take the third exit and then turn left and follow the road into the village.

From Oakham head toward Cottesmore. On coming into Greetham pass the Plough club on the right, village store / post office on the left. Next is Pond Lane and then the very small village green. Next left turn is Great Lane turn in and Folly green gates are the first on t...
