Recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Briançon has a highly characteristic, walled old city; centred around the cathedral and surrounded by hill-top forts. All amenities are available, and the numerous shops and restaurants can be easily reached also by foot. Briançon can be reached by train from the South (with a regular service from Marseille) and by coach from Grenoble and Torino; the local bus service has a stop just 40m from the apartment. However the recommended solution is to travel either directly by car, or by flying to Torino and then hiring a car also to be able to visit the surrounding area. The apartment is within a gated residence compound, has an allocated parking space and is within very easy reach of the main roads running through the town. Apart from Briançon itself, a number of other well-renowned ski resorts can be easily reached by car or bus within 10-15 minutes.
