The property boasts three large bedrooms each with an allocated shower and toilet room. Within the grounds of the house is a boating lake, tennis court and woodland for guests to enjoy. Halifax Golf Club is a two minute walk from the cottage. A perfect location for walkers, cyclists, golfers, bird watchers, families and Yorkshire enthusiasts. Surrounded by some of the country's most spectacular scenery in one of the most relaxing settings, Brook House Grange Cottage is a rural retreat waiting to be discovered. Standing in 6 acres of stunning, secluded grounds, it is just three miles north of Halifax in the heart of West Yorkshire’s dramatic landscape and is within easy access of some of the most popular tourist destinations. The property is at the foot of the Yorkshire Moors and is within walking distance of good pubs and restaurants. Heron and Geese reside within the grounds (depending upon the time of year), and can be studied from the vantage point of our bird-watching hut located next to the lake. Remember to bring your binoculars, or ask to borrow ours! We also have wild deer that regularly roam the grounds. Guests can enjoy freshly laid eggs daily from our family of hens! Guests have their own gated parking spaces, entrance, and garden/lawn area with table and chairs and have exclusive use of the house. They are welcome to explore the large woods within our grounds, row on our boating lake or play a spot of tennis on the tennis court. Guests also have access to games, puzzles, books and a portable BBQ. There is also a secure lock-up facility for bicycles. We live in Brook House Grange, adjacent to the cottage. Should you wish, we are always on hand to answer questions, help you book activities and provide you with a wealth of local information and tips. Our 'walks from the door' is just one way that we try to make sure you get the most from your stay. We are also far enough away that you don't need to see us if you would prefer not to! We are located in the heart of the Yorkshire Moors and the Pennines and within short driving distance of Haworth, the birthplace of the Brontë’s. 2016 marks the bicentenary of Charlotte Brontë’s birth, making this year the perfect time to visit the stunning landscape of Brontë Country. Ogden Water, situated in the Yorkshire Moors (a short walk from the cottage) is a Local Nature Reserve. The estate comprises a 34 acre reservoir enclosed by woodland with open moor beyond. The heather uplands and peat moors form part of a Special Protection Area that is of international importance for breeding birds such as curlew, snipe, grouse and various birds of prey. There are numerous woodland trails and waterside paths to explore, including 1 ¼ miles of wheelchair accessible pathway around the reservoir and through sections of the woodlands. If you get up high to the edge of the woodlands you will be rewarded with stunning views extending across Calderdale, Bradford and as far as Selby and the Peak District. In Halifax, Eureka! Museum for Children is the first and foremost hands-on children’s museum in the UK and a little further afield is the National Media Museum and the Hockney Gallery. Beautiful Pennine towns and villages are just a short drive away including Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall, Holmfirth (Last of the Summer wine country), Saltaire and the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. The area offers something for everyone with no shortage of attractions for visitors. We are just seven miles from the M62, almost equidistant from Leeds and Manchester and ideally located as a base from which to explore the historic city of York, only an hour away while Ilkley, Harrogate and Skipton are closer still. Every bedroom is equipped with an LCD SMART 32' TV. All shower rooms are provided with toiletries. Towels, bedding and linen are all included in the stay. Cleaning facilities are also provided; Hoover, cleaning solutions etc. Well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, American fridge-freezer, toaster, oven, 5 hob gas cooker, washing machine, cutlery and all essential utensils. WIFI Tennis rackets and balls available upon request Guests have use of the rowing boat and oars More
