We stayed at Stoneacre for three weeks (08/22/19-09/12/19). The view is spectacular 10/10. The house is roomy, warm, and welcoming. We comfortably fit seven adults. The house had wifi and tv but we rarely needed them as we spent our evenings talking, playing music and...More

Indeed the Killary, and Connemara, is one of those thin places, and we are so glad you recognize that and experienced it fully. Thank you for making yourself at home at Stoneacre! Come again!

About the neighbourhood
Leenane is a small village with a population of about 100.Set at the head of Killary Harbour, It relies mainly on tourism but there are still working farms in the area. There is a pleasant mix of locals and holiday home owners and all live well together. There are two churches RC and Cof I a local clinic a small library. is also available to visitors. Several beaches are within easy driving distance (15-25 mins) there is great choice and they are very sparcely populated because of abundance and size. With golden sands and aquamarine rollers they are ideal for swimming, windsurfing or just picnicing. The Twelve Bens are close to Leenane and the Victorian Gardens of Kylemore Abbey 15 minutes away. Ashford Castle at Cong is 45 minutes and well worth the trip. Westport is 30 minutes away w...
